Q) Tell us a little bit about yourself in general
A) I homeschooled 2nd - 12th grade. There are six kids in my family. I took 2 years off school before coming here. I love Alabama Gymnastics.
Q) How old were you when you started gymnastics? Where? Coaches?
A) 8 years old. Upstate Gymnastics Center, Pendleton, SC. Maureen Williamson and Mendi Jordan.
Q) What is your favorite apparatus? Why?
A) Bars or Beam. I like the longer, slower dynamics of these events. I like expressing myself through beam dance and I just enjoy doing them.
Q) What was your best competition performance?
A) A meet my junior year which happened to be hosted by Mandy Chapman's gym.
Q) Favorite competition location?
A) At home - University of Alabama.
Q) Interesting travel experiences through gymnastics competitions?
A) I went to Mexico, Canada and Germany for competitions. In Canada, everything we took got stolen and we came back with only a sleeping bag and toothbrush.
Q) Tell us about your collegiate recruiting experience. Who recruited you, how many visits did you take and at what point did you decide to attend the University of Alabama?
A) After talking on the phone with Bryan and then meeting the team here I knew this was where I wanted to be. I ended up not talking to any other colleges that I talked to. Alabama gymnastics is in a league of their own.
Q) What skills are you currently practicing and do you expect to contribute on each apparatus this season?
A) I am working to regain all my skills after breaking my hand.
Q) What are your academic and athletic goals for the upcoming season?
A) I plan to achieve scholastic All-American status again this year. In the gym I want to contribute to the team in growth and development as well as in scores and competition.
Q) Do you have a best and worst experience involving gymnastics?
A) Coming here and being a part of a team is what I have done gymnastics for the past ten years.
My worst experience was breaking my hand twice and sitting out the whole season. |
