Q) How did you spend your summer vacation?
A) "I went home for the summer. I worked as a waitress at the William Tell Inn. It's a unique restaurant in Alton run by a couple. The husband/chef is Swiss. I also worked at Beans & Greens, a farm stand/nursery, where I learned a lot about flowers as well as vegetables (my favorite). The owners, the Howes, are a lot of fun to work with. My sister, Krista, was training for cross country for Middlebury College, so I tried to keep up with her most of the time."
Q) Now that fall practice has begun, what new skills are you working on?
A) "I have added a half-twist to my bar dismount - a toe front pike. I am working on a round off, 1 ½ punch front on the floor. Mainly, I am trying to perfect the skills I already have."
Q) What one thing about you will surprise the Tide fans during the upcoming competition year?
A) "I'm going to graduate on time! Honestly, I can't think of one thing."
Q) Describe some of your team mates and how you think they will contribute to the 2000 team?
A) "The best thing about my team is how well we get along and how close we are. We didn't have to spend a long time uniting. From experience, I know that a close team competes strongly."
Q) Who do you think will wow the fans? Who do you think is the "sleeper" on this team?
A) "(Freshman) Kristin is going to wow the fans in all areas - she is a strong gymnast. Katie (junior) is breaking loose this year and I'm convinced that she will contribute on all four events."
Q) In your opinion, what will it take for this team to win the national championship?
A) "We cannot doubt ourselves."
Q) Who are the leaders on this team?
A) "Each girl is a leader in her own way."
Q) In your opinion, which apparatus will have the greatest number of Tide gymnasts competing for a spot in the line-up?
A) "BEAM! I'm glad that I don't do beam (the fans should be too!)."
Q) What is your favorite aspect about college gymnastics?
A) "#1: the team #2: our fans."
Q) What is your opinion of the possibility of the SEC Championship being held at a neutral site instead of being held on a rotational basis at each campus?
A) "I am on both sides of the fence. SEC Championships for football has worked well at a neutral site. However, I had a great time competing at home last year. I think that the question is whether or not enough people will come watch the competition at a neutral site."
Q) How is your overall health? Did you have any surgery/rehab during the off season?
A) "Knock on wood - everything is still attached and working fine with a little help from E.J. (Amo)."
Q) If you had to come up with a theme for this year's team, what would it be?
A) "To take Georgia's theme - 'Ready or not, here we come!'"
