Q) How did you spend your summer vacation?
A) "I spent my summer vacation at home (Birmingham) with all of my friends because it was our last summer all together before moving on to college. I drove here (Tuscaloosa) to practice during the summer."

Q) Now that fall practice has begun, what new skills are you working on?
A) "On beam I am working on a gainer full dismount. On vault I am working on handspring front layouts. Floor - new routine but no new skills. Bars - I am working on a front flyaway." (Note: Sara has been throwing a solid front pike vault in practice and throws a double pike and a double tuck on the floor).

Q) What one thing about you will surprise the Tide fans during the upcoming competition year?
A) "That I am the shortest person on the team (even shorter than Alexa)."

Q) Describe some of your team mates and how you think they will contribute to the 2000 team.
A) "Andree - I think she will contribute on every event but I think that every individual on this team will contribute in some way or another throughout the year."

Q) Who do you think will wow the fans? Who is the "sleeper" on this team?
A) "Andree Pickens will wow the fans."

Q) In your opinion, what will it take for this team to win the national championship?
A) "Working together as a team and staying healthy."

Q) Who are the leaders on this team?
A) "Lissy Smith, Robin Hawkins, Katie Hornecker and Alexa Martinez."

Q) In your opinion, which apparatus will have the greatest number of Tide gymnasts competing for a spot in the line up?
A) "Bars and beam."

Q) What is your favorite aspect about college gymnastics?
A) "My favorite aspect about college gymnastics is the team. I never had a team when I was in club (Mardis Gymnastics), so having a team is really special for me."

Q) What is your opinion of the possibility of the SEC Championship being held at a neutral site, instead of being held on a rotational basis at each campus?
A) "I think that it is a good idea because it will not give any team an advantage. The opportunities will be equal for all teams."

Q) How is your overall health? Did you have any surgery/rehab during the off season?
A) "I am very healthy. I have not had an surgery or rehab during the off season."
