Farewell from Coleman Coliseum       [ 9:02 PM, 01/26/02 ]
and we hope to see a much larger crowd next week against Nebraska, which will be going for the gusto (and the win) against UA. Alabama will then head on the road on February 8 to Baton Rouge and on February 10th will be back at the BJCC to meet the Auburn Tigers for the first of two meets between these rivals. See you next week Tide fans!

The Tide ladies       [ 9:00 PM, 01/26/02 ]
have just heard their total score announced and are praying together before going over to congratulate the Denver Pioneers for a great meet. The coaches are also mingling from both teams. Attendance announced: 7,206.

[ top... ]
Alabama finishes       [ 8:55 PM, 01/26/02 ]
for the second week in a row with a score of 195.675. PBA was off by one full point, earlier predicting a 196.675 but the Tide had to face gremlins on the beam again, hence a point lower. Denver finishes very well for a road meet, scoring 195.225. Jeana Rice wins the balance beam (9.875) and Denver covers the second and third spots. UA wins the bars (Sterner, Barrington and Pickens); UA also wins the floor exercise (Tomasek, Brion, Sterner) and vault is won by Sterner and Shible, with Pickens in third. Kristin Sterner wins the all around with a 39.350 total score.

[ top... ]
Raegan threw that       [ 8:42 PM, 01/26/02 ]
double front Arabian sky high once again, and the crowd loves it!! She is smiling big time for the judges and finishes strongly. Melanie Schiff was on the beam, not Shible and receives a 9.85. The judges gave Tomasek a 9.85. Sorry, but PBA cannot tell you where they deducted. Kristin opens with a super high double pike (no step out this time) and then finishes with another double pike (small step back to catch self) for a 9.925. Shible receives a 9.800. Kasuga gets a 9.800 on her beam routine. Alexa Martinez goes last because she has that new E opening pass, which she lands with a balance check. She receives a 9.775 from the judges, who deducted for her low amplitude on one of her saltos during the FOURTH pass, no doubt. This routine is coming together. Michelle Reeser is now up for the exhibition routine. The crowd loves this one big time despite the music allegory to the gymdawg country!!! Awesome opening double pike and she sure knows how to sell that routine!

[ top... ]
Stephanie Kite       [ 8:35 PM, 01/26/02 ]
has just thrown a great routine as well and the crowd is behind her as well. Martini receives a 9.675 on the beam. Courtney Young (another former elite) is now up on the beam and is through her flight series but bends at the waist on her switch leap to 3/4 wolf. She dismounts with a front half layout. Kite receives a 9.775 for her routine (deductions for some form breaks on her final pass). Alexis Brion is up next. Nice leaps and a super solid opening pass of double tuck. She opens up that last tuck very nicely on her second pass and lands it beautifully. It's amazing how she knows where she is in the air and she finishes with a new ending to help dramatize the music's ending. Young receives a 9.725 for her beam routine and Shible just threw a nice flight series of flic flac, layout, flic flac. Brion receives a 9.875 for her floor routine and now Raegan Tomasek is up.

[ top... ]
RaraRuss is leading       [ 8:28 PM, 01/26/02 ]
the 10 Troupe loudly in a cheer of "ROLL TIDE ROLL" and then simmers them down as Denver mounts the balance beam. Denver's first gymnast completes a solid routine, ending with a double twist. Lauren Holdefer is up first for the Tide on floor. She throws a stupendous opening routine to get the crowd back into the meet in a big way, throwing two double tucks on her opening passes and ending with two fronts to a front tuck. Denver is looking very composed on the beam as Bankhead receives a 9.725 for the opening routine. Martini is up next (former elite gymnast) and she looks very confident as well, dismounting with a tuck half twist (step backwards to catch herself). Holdefer receives a 9.80 on the floor. Stephanie is up next.

[ top... ]
The Tide now leads by       [ 8:25 PM, 01/26/02 ]
only .125 over the Pioneers after a third week of difficulty on the balance beam. After Alexa's initial problems, the next two gymnasts appeared to be shaken, falling during their routines. The Tide will need a strong 49 plus score on the floor to keep the Pioneers at bay, who move to the balance beam.

[ top... ]
Stephanie Kite is exhibiting on       [ 8:18 PM, 01/26/02 ]
the balance beam and has some very nice difficulty but is struggling with balance checks throughout. She dismounts with a rudi and takes a step on the landing. Denver is exhibiting on the floor. The YMCA dads are now cooking in the stands. Here comes the UA Tuba Section on the floor to get the crowd going. UA is going to need a super strong floor set to pull this one out.

[ top... ]
Kasuga receives a       [ 8:16 PM, 01/26/02 ]
9.80 for her floor routine. Shible opens with a double pike to military marching music, followed by a double tuck. Sterner had maximum deductions on her routine despite the awesome difficulty: she receives a 9.70.

[ top... ]
Denver has a       [ 8:13 PM, 01/26/02 ]
9.375, two 9.725 scores and a 9.775. Pickens receives a 9.75 for her routine and Sterner almost fell on her last flight series element but managed to gain control. She is through her Popa straddle leap combo and the standing back pike from a wolf jump combo. Now the dismount: awesome double pike, no movement on the landing!

[ top... ]
Raegan Tomasek       [ 8:05 PM, 01/26/02 ]
threw her punch front mount and promptly fell. There are gremlins in the air again, Salto! She added her third element to her flight series and completed that nicely, along with a front walkover. She dismounts with a big smile (happpy to complete the rest of the routine without incident, no doubt). Kennedy receives a 9.725 on the floor exercise. Schiff is up on floor to that Celtic Music and opens with a huge double pike. She looks a little like Michelle Emmons of UGA. The crowd gives her a very nice applause for her music and routine. Jeana Rice is up next for Alabama. She is looking awesome so far, two beautiful layouts, no obvious deductions as she throws her gainer back with confidence. She dismounts with a solid double twist, no steps and the crowd erupts with loud cheers (and relief!). Raegan Tomasek receives a 9.325 for her beam routine. Emily Bankhead is up on floor for the Pioneers to some cool rock music, opening with a nice double pike but she takes a step forward to balance. Schiff receives a 9.725. The crowd likes Bankhead's music, especially the UA student section. Rice receives a 9.875 for her beam routine. Andree mounts without her punch front and is working nicely down on the beam. A switch leap to wolf jump combo is complete, as is her flight series, and her punch front. She is dismounting with the gainer off the side of the beam and the crowd is 100% behind her! Thank you Andree!

[ top... ]
Jacquelin Young       [ 8:00 PM, 01/26/02 ]
of Denver opened with a nice double pike but landed her double tuck (second pass) low with a step forward to catch herself. She finishes with two layouts. Martinez receives a 9.550 for her beam routine and Tiffany Byrd is now up. We need five great routines to drop the first score. Tiffany is a little tentative in her leaps to start off and promptly falls on her flight series (layout). She completes her switch leap to standing back layout (gainer). Bama is already starting to back themselves into a hole and need to find that grit and determination (go for the gusto!!). Young receives a 9.375 for her routine and Kennedy is up with a double pike to open. Nice music from the Pioneers. Byrd receives a 9.175.

[ top... ]
Alabama has a running score of       [ 7:55 PM, 01/26/02 ]
98.250 (49.125 on the bars) and Denver is at 97.525. The Tide leads by .725 but will need a strong beam set to maintain or surpass this lead. Denver got a score increase for J. Young on the bars (9.65). Alexa is up on the balance beam and opened her routine with her two straddle leap combination and then almost fell on her flight series (major bend at the waist, a minimum of .3 deduction). She just threw two beautiful Popas (straddle full leap turn and a wolf full leap turn in sequence). Another two leap combination at the end and she dismounts with a gainer off the side of the beam, no steps. This routine will likely not score above a 9.6 for the major form break on the flight series.

[ top... ]
Denver had a nice vault set       [ 7:52 PM, 01/26/02 ]
and received decent scores on the uneven bars. Consequently, they are not that far behind the Tide. Bama will need to stay clean (and on) the balance beam to avoid having to push themselves on the floor for a third week in a row. The line up is new this week, with Alexa Martinez up first, allowing Raegan Tomasek to move into the third spot for hopefully a higher score.

[ top... ]
Melanie Schiff of       [ 7:47 PM, 01/26/02 ]
Denver received a 9.0 after falling on her vault. Barrington just completed a very nice bars set for a 9.85 and the crowd has just gone wild for Andree Pickens, with a super four release bars set and another stuck full in dismount landing. The 10 Troupe and the crowd are screaming for a 10 but it's not going to come tonight: 9.90 for Andree. Shannon Hrozek is ready to throw her exhibition: she completes it with nice toe point, extension, a huge Geinger release (legs slightly apart) and a solid double tuck dismount. Shible receives a 9.90 for her vault, which we believe is named after her since she was the first gymnast to compete it.

[ top... ]
Bankhead received       [ 7:42 PM, 01/26/02 ]
a 9.725 for a pike barani (tuck position) and Kennedy just threw a front pike (9.775). Rice received a very conservative 9.800 for her bars routine and Kristin Sterner just threw an awesome bars set, nailing her double front landing. She received a 9.825. Alabama is showing much tighter form, toe point and extension and they are reaching their handstand positions more consistently yet the scores are not following from the judges, even despite the E level dismounts from the last three gymnasts. Raegan Tomasek receives a 9.75.

[ top... ]
Denver's Jacquelin Young       [ 7:38 PM, 01/26/02 ]
just threw a nice vault and received a 9.675. Tiffany Byrd is safely on and off on her bars routine. She had a little balancing difficulty on the landing of her double tuck (bent shoulders forward over her feet). She receives a 9.75. Jeana Rice is next. She had one problem on her transition to the low bar (popped the straddle to handstand just a bit) but nailed the full in dismount through the roof!

[ top... ]
Bama is ready to boost that team overall score       [ 7:37 PM, 01/26/02 ]
with a super showing on the bars. 49.125 on the vault for the Tide, 48.675 on the bars for Denver.

[ top... ]
It looks like Tiffany Byrd       [ 7:34 PM, 01/26/02 ]
will mount the bars via the high bar instead of the low bar as we earlier thought. Raegan overextended on the transition to low bar (going for that extra position) but otherwise looked solid.

[ top... ]
Andree Pickens       [ 7:32 PM, 01/26/02 ]
received a 9.85 for her vault and the Tide now moves to the uneven bars, where they have the ability to pick up a larger lead if they can stay on and nail those handstands and landings.

[ top... ]
Erin Holdefer       [ 7:28 PM, 01/26/02 ]
received a 9.80 for her front pike vault and Melanie Schiff of Denver received a 9.75 for her bars routine. Again, Denver has some very nice combinations and difficulty on the bars but lose tenths with leg separations, failure to reach handstands and form breaks in general. Once they tighten up in this area, they should be very solid on the bars. Kasuga of Denver receives a 9.80 for a nice routine that included a brushing of her feet on the mats during her transition to the low bar but she dismounted with a full twisting layout and nailed the landing, so the judges were overall impressed with her routine and deducted mainly for form on the transition.

[ top... ]
Shible of Denver       [ 7:27 PM, 01/26/02 ]
received a 9.725 for her bars. Andree had too much momentum on her Yurchenko 1/1 and tried to nail the landing but popped backwards a bit with one leg. That will be a slight deduction.

[ top... ]
Young of Denver receives a       [ 7:23 PM, 01/26/02 ]
9.6 for her bars routine. Jeana Rice is up next for the Tide and throws a great Yurchenko 1/1 but hops backwards as she extends her arms high to finish. Kennedy of Denver receives a 9.75 and she had a nice double front dismount. Rice receives a 9.825 for her vault. Erin Holdefer is up next. She vaults a front pike and takes a hop forward but we will take it after that earlier scary moment. What a trooper!

[ top... ]
Shannon Hrozek just       [ 7:20 PM, 01/26/02 ]
threw a very nice front pike, with a small shuffle step to stop her forward momentum. She receives a 9.75. Denver's Bankhead receives a 9.575 on her bars routine and now Young is up for them. She lands her double tuck dismount without incident. Kristin Sterner is up with our first 10.0 vault. We need a big score here and she delivers a strong vault, electrifying the crowd!!! She receives a 9.90!!

[ top... ]
Lauren Holdefer opens up on vault       [ 7:17 PM, 01/26/02 ]
for the Crimson Tide with her front pike. She has great height and distance but again this week took a major step forward on her landing, which the judges could deduct as much as .3. Denver just completed their first bars routine and landed a double tuck dismount without incident. Lauren gets a 9.675.

[ top... ]
Warm ups on vault       [ 7:14 PM, 01/26/02 ]
so far are looking crisp, including all 10.0 vaults (Kristin, Jeana, Andree) and Erin is back in form.

[ top... ]
The Tide is decked out in       [ 7:11 PM, 01/26/02 ]
lipstick red velveteen with silver spangles on the bodice. Denver is wearing a black outfit with see-through sleeves and colorful sparkles on the bodice in a criss cross design. Black is a super popular color for teams across the country, regardless of their team colors. UA has remained faithful to red, white, and crimson in their leo choices.

[ top... ]
The national anthem has now been sung       [ 7:08 PM, 01/26/02 ]
and the Tide and Pioneers are ready to get this meet underway. Denver will start on the uneven bars as follows: Emily Bankhead, Jacquelin Young, Jessica Kennedy, Ashley Shible, Melanie Schiff, and ending with Michelle Kasuga.

[ top... ]
Welcome to the       [ 7:03 PM, 01/26/02 ]
BIG SHOW! The 10 Troupe is screaming "HEY" as the Tide marches out. The crowd is now getting into it! The ladies are being introduced by Tony Giles on the huge crimson "A" in the middle of the arena.

[ top... ]
Let's Get Ready to Rumble       [ 7:00 PM, 01/26/02 ]
can be overheard on the loudspeakers as the lights go down completely. Judges are being introduced and now the Denver Pioneers.

[ top... ]
David Patterson is chatting near the vault       [ 6:57 PM, 01/26/02 ]
with Medalist Club board member and roaming photographer, Jim Davis about the upcoming meet and what to look for. The Medalist Club newsletter will be going out next week with a feature article on freshman Michelle Reeser. It will include her comments about her first performance (tonight!) in front of the Tide faithful, so look in your mailboxes soon for the latest updates on her and the events coming up involving Bama gymnastics. Tide Tykes will be having their "Meet the Team" fun activity tomorrow afternoon so if you are signed up for this annual activity, we look forward to seeing you there.

[ top... ]
The crowd is picking up in numbers and       [ 6:55 PM, 01/26/02 ]
the fans are anxiously awaiting the start of this meet. We are about five minutes from showtime. Denver's team is rushing out to put their gym bags away for the first event and then will march out prior to our ladies. Their warm up outfits were a deep mauve and black. Will provide more fashion updates as they occur.

[ top... ]
On each event Alabama will have at least one       [ 6:53 PM, 01/26/02 ]
gymnast who will be doing an exhibition routine. On the vault it will be sophomore Stephanie Kite. On uneven bars: freshman Shannon Hrozek. On the balance beam: Stephanie Kite and on the floor exercise Tide fans will get to see the debut of freshman Michelle Reeser's routine to the "Devil Went Down to Georgia" (Suzanne Yoculan would be pleased!).

[ top... ]
We have a tentative line-up for UA       [ 6:49 PM, 01/26/02 ]
starting with the vault: Lauren Holdefer, Shannon Hrozek, Kristin Sterner, Jeana Rice, Erin Holdefer, Andree Pickens. On the uneven bars we will start off with Tiffany Byrd, Jeana Rice, Kristin Sterner, Raegan Tomasek, Natalie Barrington, and Andree Pickens. On the balance beam we have Alexa Martinez starting us off this week, followed by Tiffany Byrd, Raegan Tomasek, Jeana Rice, Andree Pickens, and Kristin Sterner. On the floor exercise we will start off like last week with Lauren Holdefer, Stephanie Kite, Alexis Brion, Alexa Martinez, Raegan Tomasek, and finish with Kristin Sterner. Therefore, Jeana Rice, Andree Pickens and Raegan Tomasek will be on three events and Kristin Sterner will go all-around.

[ top... ]
The band is kicking some major       [ 6:46 PM, 01/26/02 ]
tuba, as they break into their "Let's Get Rolling" music for the Tide fans. We will highlight the opening ceremonies and let you know what changes (if any) have been made.

[ top... ]
Bama's cheerleaders are on the floor and the 10 Troupe       [ 6:43 PM, 01/26/02 ]
seating area is about full. We've just spotted Salto and family, as well as Ms. Nellie and her huge family contingent in the seating area closest to the balance beam (these are some of our Medalist Club members and super-devoted followers of the Tide Gymnastics Program). Let's hope they're ready for a great night of gymnastics.

[ top... ]
It's twenty minutes       [ 6:40 PM, 01/26/02 ]
until the BIG SHOW and the crowd is slowly moving in. We may not top 10,000 this week but it could be a late arriving crowd. We had beautiful weather today in the state, sunny, mid 60s. Sara is now giving the pep talk to the ladies and it looks intense. Bama looked the cleanest on uneven bars and floor during warm ups, followed closely by balance beam.

[ top... ]
Welcome back       [ 6:37 PM, 01/26/02 ]
Andree Pickens (just threw a nice double tuck dismount)!! Jeana has a beautiful straddle to wolf jump combination, going for maximum amplitude and toe point.

[ top... ]
Shannon Hrozek       [ 6:34 PM, 01/26/02 ]
has the big skills on beam (two layouts in her flight series, a switch leap to sheep jump combination) but still is finding her "feet" so to speak, showing some tentative leaps. Tiffany just threw a double tuck dismount off the beam and Shannon a double twist.

[ top... ]
Kristin Sterner       [ 6:32 PM, 01/26/02 ]
has her punch front mount back in (a little close to the beam) and just threw a nice flight series and her dismount of a double pike (is anyone else throwing this difficult a routine this early in the season around the country??).

[ top... ]
Nice punch front mount       [ 6:30 PM, 01/26/02 ]
on the beam from sophomore Stephanie Kite! She also throws a flic flac to two footed layout, which is a more difficult flight series because you have to shift from one to two legs mid flight. Andree is more confident this week on the beam with her flight series and punch fronts and is going for the double tuck dismount (holding her back is like holding back a locomotive!). On uneven bars Denver has some nice difficulty but they are struggling a bit with form and handstands.

[ top... ]
Stephanie Kite is now       [ 6:27 PM, 01/26/02 ]
warming up on the beam with a switch leap to 3/4 Popa, followed by a wolf Popa. Bryan is updating Sarah on the vaulting warm up results and will help her decide on the final line up. Erin is resuming her warm ups after getting re-wrapped. Much nicer vault, stood it up like a trooper (I guess we could say she got back on that horse after it threw her).

[ top... ]
Stephanie Kite       [ 6:23 PM, 01/26/02 ]
just threw a pike with a 1/2 twist!!! Erin is ready to get back after that vaulting horse but will wait for Lauren to go first. Stephanie is ready to try that 10.0 vault again. She needs to block off the horse more to get more height so she can twist it on time. Andree's 1/1 vault is solid. Over on balance beam, we have Miss Tiffany working her beam flight series. Sara is working her Phelps vault by warming up the tuck position first before she lays it out. Jeana returns to the vault and completes it, albeit a little off the horse and to her right on landing. She now moves on to the beam to warm up.

[ top... ]
On the other hand       [ 6:14 PM, 01/26/02 ]
it looks like Alexis Brion is not warming up for vault, since she is back in her warm up leo and top, but she is encouraging the rest of the team. Nice music on floor by the Pioneers, an interesting variation. Stephanie threw a pike but still is struggling a bit with her form on the second salto. Shannon threw a nice pike. Over on balance beam, we have Natalie, Tiffany, Michelle and Raegan warming up. OOOOHHHH, nice Celtic music on the floor for the Pioneers. Erin Holder just had a nasty landing on her pike warmup (looks like she knocked the breath out of herself but she may have strained her leg, which was wrapped at the ankle. Monica Decker, our great trainer, is taking her through the recovery stretches on the side-line. It looks like she is going to be fine, now walking and jumping up and down in place to get her legs back under her. That's a hard mat!!!

[ top... ]
Alabama is now heading to the balance beam and vault       [ 6:09 PM, 01/26/02 ]
for their final warm up period while Denver moves to the floor and uneven bars. We see Jeana, Erin, Lauren, Andree, Kristin, Shannon, Alexis, Stephanie, Sara.

[ top... ]
Jeana has her       [ 6:05 PM, 01/26/02 ]
whip to 2 1/2 twist down solid. Lauren is going for extra extension on her two front layouts to a punch front (final pass). Denver coaches are super supportive and encouraging of their gymnasts as they warm up on vault, even if they miscue a landing. Ashley Shible is a sophomore on their team who has a solid 10.00 vault that we will be looking for especially.

[ top... ]
Raegan looks like she will be       [ 6:02 PM, 01/26/02 ]
adding in her double tuck as her second pass this week on the floor. Andree is grooving with the gals, getting them pumped up. Some new dance moves on floor for Kristin's routine, and it's only three weeks into the season! Coach Patterson knows this is going to be a key routine at the end of the year, so she is already tweaking it to perfection.

[ top... ]
Raegan just threw her       [ 6:00 PM, 01/26/02 ]
double front arabian in warm-up and looks ready to continue showcasing this awesome pass. Not sure if we will see Kristin Sterner's double layout on floor but Jeana will continue with her floor music from last year through this meet. Oooh! A nice, tight and high double tuck from Lauren Holdefer, two front layouts to a punch front from Alexis and a double pike from Michelle Reeser!

[ top... ]
Shannon Hrozek       [ 5:58 PM, 01/26/02 ]
has her smoky music ready for the crowd to rumba with. Alexa Martinez just threw a front to a 2 1/2 twist, awesome difficulty ladies and gentlemen! Jeana is working on her 2 1/2 to a punch front and is struggling a bit.

[ top... ]
Denver       [ 5:55 PM, 01/26/02 ]
has some nice moves on the balance beam and they are now moving to the vault. Reeser is dancing to the music "Devil Went Down to Georgia". She has nice leaps and some groovy dance steps to go along with this crowd-pleasing music. It's hard not to clap when you hear it, even if some people think it's UGA owned and licensed (ha ha).

[ top... ]
Michelle Reeser is warming up on the       [ 5:53 PM, 01/26/02 ]
floor exercise with Alexa, Alexis, Lauren and Stephanie. Kristin Sterner is warming up as well so we may see her as well. Reeser just threw two front layouts to a front full, looking very confident.

[ top... ]
Alexa Martinez       [ 5:50 PM, 01/26/02 ]
has that double layout dismount down cold. She caught her Tkatchev release confidently and has beautiful reverse giants (nice toe point and extension). Andree has a new move in her bars routine, where she completes her Hindorff, does a giant uprise and makes a complete turn in the reverse position before shifting to the low bar. There seems to be nothing she cannot conquer in terms of new moves when she sets her mind to it.

[ top... ]
Jeana Rice       [ 5:44 PM, 01/26/02 ]
is in superb shape and has that "look" of competition determination. She has alot of energy that needs to be channelled (like Andree). Raegan is looking her strongest this year on the uneven bars. Ah!! We now see junior Sara Scarborough warming up on the bars with some very nice giants. This was one of her best events in club competition so maybe we will be seeing more of her this year and next on this event.

[ top... ]
Sophomore Tiffany Byrd       [ 5:44 PM, 01/26/02 ]
is swinging confidently and very fast on the bars and may mount from the low bar this week. Junior Kristin Sterner just completed a nice warmup as well and senior Raegan Tomasek threw a beautiful Jaeger release with gorgeous toe point and extension. Sophomore Jeana Rice is going for every handstand position, followed closely by Shannon Hrozek, because they know each will count heavily towards their final score. This new rule (taking .05 to .10 off for missed handstands) may be a blessing disguise because the teams that truly want perfection on this event (UA being one of them) seem to be striving early on to get the higher scores.

[ top... ]
On the uneven bars       [ 5:42 PM, 01/26/02 ]
Alabama has nine gymnasts warming up. Freshman Shannon Hrozek just threw a nice dismount with excellent distance on her double tuck. Freshmen, Michelle Reeser and Alexis Brion are assisting Bryan Raschilla with adjusting the bars each time a new gymnast moves into position to warm up. That's what teamwork is all about!

[ top... ]
Alabama is sporting their       [ 5:33 PM, 01/26/02 ]
lipstick red velveteen warm-up leos but we could always see a totally different "hue" show up for their competition outfit. Fashion reports will shortly follow. The "10 Troupe" is wearing red teeshirts tonight as they file into their area near the floor. What a great first impression they left last week and bigger and better things are predicted for tonight as they help to "tweak" the opening entrance festivities. We thought the music and entrance was fabulous and expect the crowd will respond favorably as they polish up certain aspects tonight. For those fans far away from the coliseum tonight, we hope you will stay with us and cheer the team on via internet scoring and our commentary. Our goal is to help you feel as if you are in the arena, hearing the roar of the crowd as Andree nails that vault or dismount, pushing the team onto a greater performance as the night evolves. We value your support no matter how far away you may be. Please send the ladies your support via the message board at www.gymtide.com. The ladies frequent this site to see what the fans have to say, so send them your compliments and questions.

Senior Raegan Tomasek was featured       [ 5:28 PM, 01/26/02 ]
this week in newspaper articles and television interviews after winning the all around against Georgia last weekend and earning "Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week" honors. She will be expected on at least three events tonight, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. Due to the depth on floor, we may see Coach Patterson rest Kristin Sterner this week and we may see Alexis Brion go on vault.

[ top... ]
Coach Sarah Patterson       [ 5:25 PM, 01/26/02 ]
has noted in newspaper articles towards the latter part of this week that we may be seeing freshman Michelle Reeser on the floor exercise tonight, either in the competition line-up or as an exhibited routine. Stephanie Kite has also been mentioned as a possible inclusion in the balance beam line up though she most likely will exhibit on the beam since she has never competed or exhibited on this event during her freshman year. Another possibility for the line up tonight is Shannon Hrozek on the vault, bars and floor exercise.

The Alabama Crimson Tide Gymnastics Team       [ 5:23 PM, 01/26/02 ]
has taken to the floor to do early conditioning work prior to their warm-ups on the apparati. Denver has just come in as well and are doing their aerobic workout while UA stretches nearby on the floor exercise. A few fans have entered the coliseum early to watch the warmups as well.
