and Bayer just opened with a booming double pike but had to take a step back to stop her backward progress. She is smiling and dancing as she leaps with confidence. Second pass is through and she will finish with a double twist.

for Bama. Denver's first girl up on beam gets a 9.875 but the second gal up falls on her punch front mount. Holdefer is through her double pike and double tuck passes and will end with another double tuck, perfect timing on the ending! The Holdefer clan is going wild and RaraRuss is trying to contain their energy so they don't fall down the bleachers. These gyms can be hazardous you know.

Bama will head there next to try and get those scores up. The Chicken Dance is now being demonstrated by the Chik-Fil-A cow and some energetic kids across the way. RaraRuss is sitting this one out after throwing his hip out.

and will have to count some low scores.

and Denver a 49.00 on the bars. Denver is at 98.125 and Bama is at 98.350.

and threw a beautiful wolf full but bent at the waist on the layout during her flight series. Very nice switch leap to wolf jump to 3/4 straddle. She is gaining in confidence on this event.

and she is through her three leap series and the flight series of bhs-layout-layout and a 3/4 wolf and a double twist for a 9.90. This was a great routine for her because she was having lots of trouble in the warm-ups and seemed frustrated. Coach Patterson kept encouraging her and she came through in magnificent fashion.

and Hrozek bobbled on the third element of her flight series and is a little tentative through some of her other moves but dismounts with a double twist, one step to the side.

(great amplitude as usual) and her flight series is right on! Beautiful side switch leap but she bobbles on the little move she does down onto the beam and takes a small hop on her dismount. The Denver gymnast (second up) gets a 9.150 for her bars.

and Denver's Shible gets a 10 for her vault, leading them to a 49.125 total, so they are in the lead. Air Force experienced alot of problems on the beam and has a 47.125 total.

routine without a major release move (beautiful release from high to low bar in a perfect handstand position) and she nailed the dismount of a full pirouette to a double tuck (nice distance from the bars) for a 9.80.

bars routine, two inverted giants to a half turn to a Tkatchev and a full in dismount (one tiny foot check back) for a 9.90.

which includes a full twisting Tkatchev and a Tkatchev and missed only one handstand but nailed the dismount of a double front (getting better and better each week)for a 9.80. Dana Pierce had an awesome routine going, reaching all but one handstand, two beautiful inverted giants and a booming Tkatchev release but she missed her foot on the toe-on front tuck dismount and went flying forward onto her foo foo (she did land chest up!). She received a 9.175.

and she just threw a great routine, nailing the double layout, to be immediately enveloped by her coaches and team. This was an incredible achievement, she has been working mega hard on this routine all fall and came through for the Tide big time. She receives a 9.75.

Up first on bars, she just nailed her routine, with an explosive landing of a double tuck (both rotations above the high bar) to the stand up cheering of the Tide fans and she is rewarded a 9.825 (first up blues?). She is followed by a solid routine from sophomore Michelle Reeser for a 9.70.

So Denver will go on vault, Bama will start on the bars, the Falcons on the beam and then all teams will rotate forward in Olympic order.

Former Alabama All American and National Champion (1988) Cheri Way and her daughter had lunch with the Tide entourage today and will be here as well. We are in the gymnasium of the Ritchey Arena on the campus of the University of Denver and have already seen our ladies go through three warm-ups: bars, beam and floor. They are now almost finished with the vault warm-up and will be preparing to leave to get ready for the march out.
