Florida just defeated Bama for the first time in a dual meet since 1989! Yowza, that's a long time. Let's hope it's even longer before it happens again.

we have Hrozek in third, Miner in second and Jeana Rice in first!

we have a four way tie for first, Szmuch, Miner, Rice and Kite of UA.

we have Sterner and Ingram in third, Stucky in second, and Pierce of Alabama in first!

with Miner in second for UF. On the bars, Szmuch and Stucky finish in third, Rice in second, Pendleton in first.

Bama went into this meet with the intention of resting several gymnasts who have been going full speed for the past two months and letting some of the recovering gymnasts get into the mix. Steps out of bounds again bit Bama tonight, very uncharacteristic of them and easy to take care of in practice. Bama returns home tonight to get some much needed rest before hitting the gym again and preparing for the Auburn Tigers on March 1st, which will be the first of three home meets in March. It looks like this will be the homecoming meet for Alexis Brion and Ashley Miles so Tide fans will need to be there in force to welcome them home.

And she's just exhibiting. Nice flight series, leap series and a beautiful full turn. UF gets a final tally of 197.125.

and Sterner a 9.85. Bama finishes with a 49.100 and a final tally of 196.600. UF will win with a 197 plus.

for the Tide and Lindsey Miner just threw a very solid routine, nailing her double pike, double tuck and a double twist. Sterner is through her flight series and the straddle jump combination. Beautiful switch half but no standing pike tonight; she dismounts with a beautiful double pike, one foot back. YEAH!

It seems every gymnast at one point in their routine tonight is just not as focused as we are used to, hence the bobbles that add up and cost you in the final score. Jeana receives a 9.775 for her routine and Waterhouse got a 9.80 on floor.

for Bama and she completes her flight series and the three leap series with no major problems. She will now throw the two front aerials, perfect, and she dismounts with a front full! Wow! She gets a 9.75 (?) Both judges had a 10.0 start value for her. Hesbeens gets a 9.825 for her floor routine.

Hrozek gets a 9.825 for her beam.

and bobbles on her switch leap but throws the more difficult switch leap to sheep jump without batting an eyelash. She nailed her double twist dismount! Dooley gets a 9.85 for her floor routine. Hesbeens is next on floor.

Dooley is now up. Pierce gets a 9.90!

on beam. Nice switch leap to two straddle jumps, great amplitude as usual. Perfect flight series of a two footed back handspring to layout. Very nice full turn, lots of confidence throughout and she nails the landing. Awesome routine!

tell us! Reeser is up on beam with a split mount and leg pose. She throws her flight series and bends at the waist on the layout. Then she throws a straddle to immediate Korbut, nicely done. She receives a 9.700.

and she is looking to redeem herself after the unfortunate fall on the bars. Stewart will dismount with a Rudi or a front full tonight to increase her scoring potential on beam.

Filetti is doing a great exhibition job on the floor but ends up bailing on her whip to 2 1/2 on the last pass (it's hard, that's why it's a D pass). Bama is behind the Gators by 3 tenths: 147.500 to 147.800. They will have to score big time on beam to keep this close, the home team tends to do better on the floor historically.

and it worked for her. Her dance is off a little after the second pass with these changes but she is now finishing up strongly and just slightly steps over the line (flag raised).

for her floor routine, one tenth off for the slight check on the landing of the whip to 2 1/2. Delahoussaye is on the floor to finish up for the Tide. Sterner is being rested tonight. Stucky just finished her beam for the Gators.

Perfect opening double pike. Rice had a little difficulty on her whip to 2 1/2 but stood it up (came down just a tad short). She finishes with a whip to a double and is happy to get off that floor (there's a gremlin in the carpet, we know it to be true). Waterhouse gets a 9.775 for her beam routine.

(front, double full to punch front)and her second pass of a front, front full to front layout with no problems. Dooley gets a 9.825 for her beam routine. Kite is through her routine and happy to greet her team with high fives. Kite gets a 9.90 for her floor routine. Difficulty counts!

She opens with a booming double pike and the second pass of a front, front full to front tuck. She finishes with a double tuck but has to just step forward on the landing. Overall, Bama is not looking very crisp tonight on floor. Szmuch gets a 9.300 for her beam set. Dooley is doing very well so far on the beam. Hrozek gets a 9.85.

Ingram gets a 9.85 for her beam routine. Great way for the Gators to start off on beam. Holdefer steps out on her double pike (second week in a row). Rats! She is through the second pass (double tuck) and the final pass of a double tuck as well.

for the Gators. She is a sophomore transfer from Nebraska and a former elite with Steve Nunno's Dynamo Gymnastics. She throws a side aerial to a back handspring flight series and a full turn leg extended and two straddle jumps.

working extra hard to stay in bounds. Filetti is working a whip to a 2 1/2 and is having some trouble with the corner boundary. She will exhibit tonight on floor.

and the Gators to the balance beam. We have Rice, Delahoussaye, Holdefer, Kite, Brion, Filetti, Hrozek, Sterner warming up on the floor for Bama.

with a running score of 98.675 to Bama's 98.475.

Bama ends up with a 49.125 on the vault, but they had two 9.90 vaults they were throwing this week and a 9.80 vault (Hrozek is working up to the same vault as Sterner).

and Miner a 9.825 for her bars. Kristin Sterner just threw her vault and had to take a few steps to stop her momentum for a 9.75. Szmuch gets a 9.90 for her bars routine and Stucky just completed hers. Szmuch and Stucky both dismount with a double tuck.

Lindsey Miner just completed her routine and dismounts with the same tuck reverse that Reeser throws off the high bar. Holdefer just threw a front pike.

and vaults a Yurchenko 1/1, very nice landing and form in the air. Pierce receives a 9.875!

and gets a 9.75. Waterhouse gets a 9.85 for her bars routine.

Bama will start with Shannon Hrozek, followed by Stephanie Kite and then Dana Pierce. Sterner, Holdefer and Rice will follow up. We hear that Brion will be back in the vault line-up very soon and Hrozek just threw a Yurchenko layout (9.80 start value) for a 9.675.

landings because UF is going to get the big scores on the bars, coming in at Number 1 in the nation currently on this event. However, the Tide is ranked higher on the vault and is more than capable of pacing themselves to a good score on this event. The judges are definitely deducting for form problems, including if the gymnast is not properly placed in the air with regard to which vault she is doing.

Rice gets a 9.925 for her bars routine and Bama has a total score of 49.350. Ashley Miles just threw a great exhibition routine and is ready to get back in that line-up big time. RaraRuss and Jeana Rice's family, along with the T-Byrd's family, are here cheering the Tide.

for her vault and Stewart gets a 9.875 for her bars! Jeana Rice is now going and just completed a beautiful routine, accented by the perfect landing of her full in dismount. Way to go!

and we will check with the coaches on that one. Larissa Stewart just threw a great routine, missed one handstand, but just rocked the double layout dismount!

which included both release moves and a stuck landing on the double front. Yowza! Waterhouse gets a 9.700 for her vault, most likely due to the form problems on entry and in the air. Miner threw a solid pike 1/2 twist, landing it very well for a 9.9.

Filetti is through her routine, achieving great distance on her dismount but she had to take a balance step back. Waterhouse just pounded forward and threw her half on half off front pike, with som form problems, but she landed it with a hop to balance.

and up next for Bama is Filetti. Szmuch just threw a half off front full layout with a step forward on the landing but nice form throughout. She gets a 9.825.

is sophomore Erinn Dooley, who vaults a half off front full layout, off to the side with a hop on her landing. Hrozek just threw a perfect routine, reaching all of her handstands and nailing the landing of her double tuck out of a full pirouette.

Alabama is wearing the crimson and white spandex outfit that has solid white shoulders and sleeves and crimson bodice with a gold spangled emblem on the front. Florida is wearing a velveteen black bodice with baby blue silver spandex shoulders and sleeves. Ashley Miles just warmed up her bars routine and looks great.

Alexis Brion is going on floor tonight and looks solid. Also, Ashley Miles is warming up the uneven bars and may exhibit tonight, she is dressed out. Larissa Stewart is ready to go on bars and beam tonight along with Filetti. Lauren Holdefer was throwing her 10 vault (half on half off front pike) and may debut this tonight as well.

Whew, it took us forever to get online. We thought we were okay after PBA 2 got the phone lines straightened out and then all the numbers except the last would not respond to our modem. A computer expert I am not. But, as the teams have now been introduced we are going to dive right in and chat about the line-up for tonight and some overall impressions.
