Her first
competitive vault was a winner. Great explosion off the vault table and
excellent distance on the landing, with one foot back. |

One of her
best routines so far this year. Perhaps a small deduction for the slight
ankle separation as she was flowing down through her Gienger release from
the high bar and for just missing her final handstand (the judges do expect
absolute perfection of Alabama after all). Her dismount had both
somersaults way above the high bar and she nailed the landing. |

She
rotated very confidently through this routine but the deductions likely came
on separated ankles during her giants and for not reaching vertical during
her transition to the low bar. She also had one step back on her landing of
the somersault back over the high bar. |
|
Larissa
Stewart |
9.750 |
Her score
in week two of competing on this event has already increased by .10. The
rotation was very fluid and confident but she did miss some of her
handstands and the Tkatchev release needed a bit more amplitude to garner
the higher score. However, she nailed the double layout dismount to the
delight of her teammates and coaches, who engulfed her with hugs. |
|
Kristin
Sterner |
9.800 |
Reaching
vertical on her handstands remains Kristin's primary challenge at this point
because she threw both release moves just fine and landed the double front
with only a small foot check to balance. |
|
Dana
Pierce |
9.250 |
Dana was
on her way fast to her best bars routine of the year until she slipped a bit
on the toe-on front tuck dismount, resulting in her propelling her body like
a missile across the mats to land on her foo foo. Inverted giants and a
booming Tkatchev release were the highlights and she reached vertical on all
but one handstand. |
|
Jeana Rice |
9.900 |
An
excellent routine, perhaps deducted for flexing her feet during the half
turn on top of the high bar as she went into her two inverted giants; a
small one foot check on the landing of the full in dismount. |

Her flight
series (ff, layout, Korbut) had great extension and amplitude. Nice leap
series with good toe point, extension and amplitude as well (switch leap to
two straddle jumps). |
|
Dana
Pierce |
9.825 |
Very nice
flight series and the switch leap to two straddle jumps; she had small
balance checks on some of her dance moves and took one step on her dismount. |
|
Shannon
Hrozek |
9.725 |
Flight
series (third element - layout) gave her a little trouble as she bent
slightly at the waist to maintain balance. She was subsequently tentative
on her leap series and took a shuffle step on her double twist dismount.
|
|
Kristin
Sterner |
9.900 |
No
problems in this routine but for the first time she left out the wolf to
immediate back pike combination (this was planned) but had enough bonus
combination to start from a 10. Her double pike dismount was by far her
best effort of the year (slightest shuffle on landing). |
|
Mari Bayer |
9.925 |
No obvious
deductions in this routine. What was really amazing about this set was the
noise that burst out by the
Denver crowd at the very moment she was
going into her front aerial to bhs to Korbut combination. The savvy
freshman did not flinch. |
|
Jeana Rice |
9.900 |
Beautiful
flight series of ff, layout, layout. She experienced some trouble on the
wolf full and completed a ¾ wolf instead, with a little bending at the
waist. Nice dismount of a double twist. |

Lauren
Holdefer |
9.775 |
Three
super double backs (first in the pike position, second and third in the
tuck), with excellent height and good form each time. |
|
Mari Bayer |
9.725 |
She
bounded back two steps on the opening pass of a double pike (great height)
and completed the second and third passes with no major difficulty. There
was a hint of some fatigue because she was just a little bit off at certain
points with the music and the tumbling was not as crisp as we have seen
heretofore from Mari. The altitude will therefore be used as the official
excuse. |
|
Shannon
Hrozek |
9.775 |
She also
encountered a little problem with the floor at Denver on the opening pass of
a double pike. This was the first time in two years that we have ever seen
Shannon
struggle on her double pike, she is always in command of this tumbling
pass. Her new dance elements were executed with more confidence this week
but she was off her music a bit towards the end. |
|
Stephanie
Kite |
9.850 |
She
completed the more difficult opening pass (front through to a double to a
punch front) with no problems and completed the second and third passes with
extra energy. The 1 ½ wolf jump was done exceptionally well. We thought
this routine was underscored a bit. |
|
Kristin
Sterner |
9.875 |
Two double
pikes (boomed the final one like the Romanians!) and excellent dance and
presentation. |
|
Michelle
Reeser |
9.875 |
Excellent
opening pass of a double pike and her second pass was a front, front , front
full. Landings were crisp and she received enthusiastic applause from the
partisan crowd along with the Bama Nation fans in attendance. |
