Vault

Gymnast Vault Type Score Commentary
Jeana Rice Yurchenko 1/1 9.850 Excellent height and form in the air, including extension and toe point.  One small check back of her right foot on landing.
Dana Filetti Yurchenko full twist on back pike off 9.850 Lots of power, excellent landing with only a small foot shuffle in place; slight bend at the waist.
Shannon Hrozek Yurchenko 1/1 9.300 She missed proper hand placement on the vaulting table, losing almost all of her repulsion power as she landed off to her left, down to one knee.
Dana Pierce Yurchenko 1/1 9.850 Rock solid approach to the vault table, including the placement of her hands and her push off the table, resulting in a more centered twist and a stuck landing.
Alexis Brion Front pike ½ 9.850 Great height, legs together, small hop back on the landing, a little bent at the waist.
Ashley Miles Yurchenko 1/1 9.950 Barely moved on the landing.  Again, incredible height, distance, great form in flight.
Total   49.350

Uneven Bars

Gymnast Score Commentary
Ashley Miles 9.875 Very nice toe-on to giant full to Tkatchev release.  She reached all of her handstands and this week landed the double layout confidently, one small step to check her balance.
Dana Pierce 9.800 The best part of this routine?  The half turn to two inverted giants that she rotates very fast before a half turn to Tkatchev release.  Dismounted with a reverse tuck somersault off the high bar, a small step to check the landing.
Brittany Comeaux 9.875 Her Tkatchev release out of a giant full was huge and confident.  Landed the double front with incredible distance from the high bar, one step to check the landing.
Shannon Hrozek 9.850 A great routine, hit all of her handstands and the Gienger release was just perfect (legs together, nice inversion of torso to legs on the release; see photo in Tuscaloosa News 1-17-04 for excellent detail of this move).
Dana Filetti 9.300 A really terrific routine until she had a little trouble on her transition to the low bar (1/4 turned it but covered it well) and then under-rotated the double front, sitting it down for the first time since mid-season 2003.
Jeana Rice 9.900 Half turn to two inverted giants to half turn to Tkatchev release, full in dismount, one foot check on the landing.
Total 49.300

Balance Beam

Gymnast Score Commentary
Michelle Reeser 9.875 Very solid routine overall, including flight series (bhs-layout-Korbut) and leap series (switch leap to two straddle jumps; switch leap to wolf); dismount of bhs-to full twist was landed chest high, no movement.
Rachael Delahoussaye 9.800 Excellent toe point and extension, great amplitude on the wolf full and a perfect landing. The flight series of bhs-layout was well-executed and the wolf to immediate Korbut was solid too. Dismounted with a gainer back pike, no movement on the landing.
Dana Pierce 9.750 Very confident switch leap combination and the two-footed bhs to layout was perfect.  Just a little hesitation and bending forward on the switch leap to two straddle jump combination and a small step on the round-off layout full dismount.
Shannon Hrozek 9.775 Completed a confident set (bhs-layout-bhs; switch leap to bhs; hitch kick to sheep jump) until the last bonus leap series (switch leap to wolf but bailed on the last element), which left her with a lower start value.
Mari Bayer 9.800 Great concentration and execution overall.  Flight series (front aerial to immediate bhs to Korbut) and the front walk-over to needle scale showed off her balance and flexibility nicely.  Dismounted with a switch leap to immediate gainer back pike, small hop forward on the landing.
Jeana Rice 9.900 She executed a super flight series (bhs-layout-layout) and the wolf full looked very nice.  Double twist dismount had one step to the side, as she was really fighting to stick the landing.
Total 49.150

Floor Exercise

Gymnast Score Commentary
Michelle Reeser 9.825 She performed her new routine to "Sweet Home Alabama" and Techno Pop.  She had a little trouble on the landing of the double pike (opening pass) with a fairly large step back but completed the rest of the routine with excellent dance and style. The crowd really seemed to like this routine.
Dana Filetti 9.725 Opened with the triple twist, landed confidently this week.  Second pass was landed off center but she recovered beautifully.  However she did encounter problems again on her final pass, which was supposed to be a double twist but she bailed on this and was given credit for a 1 ½.  Great dance.
Jeana Rice 9.950 This was a terrific routine from start to finish, opening with the pike full in and closing with the whip to double twist.  Her new music packs the right punch.
Stephanie Kite 9.275 She planted her legs just a little too far apart on the front handspring so that as she moved into the front double full and then the punch front she lost power and fell on the third element.  Stephanie has not fallen on the floor since January of her freshman year, so it's understandable why she was somewhat deflated throughout the rest of this routine.
Mari Bayer 9.900 Opening pass of a high double pike, second pass of a front-front full-front tuck (executed beautifully) and a final pass of a front handspring to two front layouts.  She has wonderful choreography and presentation overall.
Alexis Brion 9.925 Incredible height on all three tumbling passes and her new music and dance elements allow her to really show off her personality.
