Yurchenko Full Twist
Slightest pike down after a powerful run, block and twist. Small step on the landing, almost in place. This vault was better than the score indicates.
|
|
Dana Pierce
|
9.675 (10.00)
|
Yurchenko Full Twist
Better effort this week but she held her position in the air too long and had to pike down quickly to stand it up.

|
Dana Filetti
|
9.800 (10.00)
|
Yurchenko Full Twist On - Back Pike Off
The step back cost her a higher score, otherwise a great effort.
|
|
Brittany Comeaux
|
9.725 (10.00)
|
Yurchenko ½ on -Front Tuck - ½ Tuck Off
Not as much height in the air as she needed to comfortably complete the intricate twisting and tucking, hence a step to the side on the landing. Distance from the vault table was fair.

Alexis Brion

Front Pike ½ Twist
She was going for the stick and popped it backwards on the landing. The explosion off the vault table and the height she reached on the pike and ½ twist were incredible despite the big hop back.

Yurchenko Full Twist
She landed this vault with the most serious, determined look we've ever seen. Just taking care of business.

Alabama Crimson Tide: Uneven Bars

She added a full twist at the end of her routine before another giant ½ turn to reverse tuck off the high bar, a small shuffle in place on the landing. This routine also had a full turn to Tkatchev release combination but the judges want a higher-valued dismount.

A little split in the legs on her Gienger release follow through but she threw the new Arabian dismount (E level) and stood it up. Limited distance from the bars on her dismount and a little jerkiness in the landing cost her a higher score.

Another E level dismount (double front) was rewarded but she also split her legs a bit on the Gienger release follow through. Handstands and transition moves have improved considerably over the past year.

This was a much more tightly controlled routine from start to end and the judges rewarded her accordingly. Handstands were reached on uprises and during the transition to the low bar; a giant ½ turn to Jaeger release was solid and the full turn to double tuck dismount had both saltos above
the high bar; ended with stuck landing.

A strong Shaposhnikova transition move from low to high bar; a huge Hindorff release move and the double layout dismount (one foot back) continue to score high in this routine.

Terin Humphrey

Toe-on ½ turn to Markelov (Khorkina release) and the double layout (hop back on landing) once again were the main attractions in Terin's routine. She is preparing to add the hop full next.

Fans were pleased to see Mouse return to the line-up and this seemed to really inspire the rest of the team to their best performances of the young season. Highlights included a very solid bhs-layout-Korbut (back dive) and a stuck dismount of the bhs-gainer full twist.

This routine mirrored her Super Six Challenge performance in terms of execution and confidence displayed. Deductions likely came when she slightly bent at the waist on landing the difficult straddle switch leap (1/4 turn).

Another great routine was building until a leg lift on the sheep jump landing; also deducted for the small step on the double twist dismount. She needs a more challenging mount to balance the composition difficulty of her overall routine.

A great routine, the one we knew she had in her. She deliberately took out the Korbut (back dive) this week and executed the front aerial to bhs for her flight series and a perfect tour j'ete leap (great amplitude and form, landing was chest high). Switch leap-straddle-wolf jump
combination looked great as did the gainer back pike dismount (no steps).

Back handspring to two layouts was marred by a bend at the waist on the third element. Double twist dismount was landed very well; did this routine score too high? Were the judges focused more on rewarding the difficulty and thereby minimized deductions for execution errors this week?

She threw the Kotchetkova to bhs without the layout after struggling in long-warm-ups a bit; the round off bhs-double tuck dismount was awesome, as was the switch leap to a 3/4 twisting back handspring ending in the split position, also known as a Omelianchik. The Humphrey was also executed to a
tee (2 ½ turn mount).

She completed all three passes and her dance elements this week with more confidence and a higher score was her reward. Deductions likely came on the opening pass of the front through to a Rudi (1 ½ twist) when she slightly scooted on the landing and on the final pass (front-front full-front
pike) when she stepped back to balance her landing. All passes were landed chest high and the second pass of a double twist had excellent form and height.

Opened with a double pike and ended with a double tuck, both passes very solid. A little trouble encountered on the front-front full to front tuck (stood it up but had to jam in the final element, losing some amplitude as a result). Very nice dance and leap series (straddle full to a
wolf full was really nifty).

Opening double pike pass was very solid as was the second pass of a whip ½-front full-front full. Her final pass took her just out of bounds (tried very hard to stay in) with a front full-front layout. Great dance and expression in between.

Super solid opening pass of a double pike, a front-front full-front tuck and the final pass of a double twist was landed with a scoot similar to Erin's but she incorporated the rest of her dance moves quickly to cover this up well. The fans were very appreciative of her extra efforts to go
for the stuck landings.

Alexis Brion

The score reflects the incredible execution of her opening pass, a whip to back handspring to super high double pike, great landing. The second pass had extra amplitude on the final element (whip ½ - front full - front full - front tuck) and she finished with a front-front layout-front tuck,
no steps.

Ashley Miles

She was going for the stick on every landing as well, starting off fine with the double layout but taking a tiny hop on the landing of the front-front full-front layout and a step forward on the landing of the double pike as her third and final pass. The extra difficulty in this routine,
tumbling and dance included, was rewarded accordingly by the judges. She only needed a 9.825 to secure the team's victory and came through big once again.
