Yurchenko 1/1 (full twist)
Awesome execution with superior height, form and distance and a stuck landing. Slightly off center of the vault table and being first up likely cost her a tenth here.

Brittany Comeaux
|
9.850 (10.00)
|
Yurchenko ½ on -front tuck - ½ off (tuck out)
Achieved great height on this vault and she nailed the landing, right shoulder slightly bent as she pulled it up to maintain the stick.

Yurchenko full twist on - back pike off
A very disappointing score for Dana's best vault of the year. One judge scored it at 9.90, the other at 9.75 despite the fact t hat she achieved her best height, form and landing in the process. We're still perplexed.

Yurchenko ½ on - front pike - ½ off (pike out)
Despite great explosion off the vault table and excellent timing on her twisting, she had to hop back on the landing. Post-season would be a great time to nail this vault for the big score. |

Front Pike ½ Twist
She hopped back on this vault but had better control on the landing than Terin. Excellent height and body position in the air throughout. |

Yurchenko 1/1 (Full Twist)
Great looking vault, landed chest high but too much power caused her to pop back as well. |

Solid landing of the double front dismount, slight one foot check. She was also likely deducted for form (toes could be pointed better) and just missing two handstands.

Dana's timing appeared to be off just a bit. She over-arched on the handstand mount on the low bar and tried to recover with a half-turn but ended up losing her grip and landed on her bottom. Recovery was pretty strong, to include the toe-on release to the high bar, the Gienger release
(very nice height and position in the air) and the double front dismount had a foot check to balance the landing.

Looked like she had a case of the jitters following Dana F's problems because she encountered two falls during her routine, something we've never seen from the junior. Missed the transition to the low bar (tried to force the handstand too early and her form broke as a result) and the
later Tkatchev release.

She was a little tentative on the handstands to make sure she did not over-arch her position and was deducted accordingly by the judges. Her shaposhnikova transition and the Hindorff release were solid and she rocked the double layout dismount landing.

Consistently vertical on her handstands and the pike Jaeger looked very confident. Dismount of the full turn to a double tuck had a slight shuffle on landing. |

Deduction came on the hop back during the landing of the double layout dismount.

She was a little tentative on the wolf full and was still able to pull it around for a solid landing (arm position seemed a bit awkward during the rotation). Beautiful back handspring to layout-step-out. The side switch leap could use more amplitude and toe point to increase her bonus
here. Stuck the landing of the gainer back pike.

The only obvious glitch we saw was not a major one, occurring when her full turn became a 1 ¼ turn that she covered well with dance. The judges also may have deducted for soft knees during the flight series (back handspring - layout - Korbut).

Except for the step on the landing of the double twist dismount, this was another very solid effort by the senior. Confident flight series (bhs-layout-bhs), as was the switch leap to wolf jump combo and the hitch kick to sheep jump had superior arch and height on the second element, along
with a terrific landing.

Another great effort that was marred only by a large step forward on the landing of the double tuck (tried to go for the stick). Round off - layout step-out mount was free of balance checks and the switch leap to ¼ straddle jump combo had excellent amplitude, extension and control on the
landings as well. The wolf full had excellent amplitude and body position during rotation that you want to see.

Slight deductions for the switch ½ leap not being perfectly executed before landing and perhaps for the switch leap to straddle to wolf combo looking a little labored (limited amplitude).

Another terrific effort until her dismount of the difficult round off to double tuck started to go off the end of the beam too early (at the point of her feet landing out of the back handspring). She ended up losing significant repulsion power, touching down her hands on the landing as a
result. A less powerful gymnast would never have completed both tucks.

She opened with a very solid double pike, followed by a super-controlled front handspring to front full to front layout. Her only deductions came on the final pass when she bounded back and then forward quickly after the double tuck landing (almost seemed to brush out of bounds but she
actually landed it in).

Her confidence is increasing each week now that she appears to have solved the opening pass problem (double pike was easily landed in bounds the past two competitions). Beautiful front through to a Rudi and the final pass was extra controlled, a front-front full-front pike.

A shuffle back on the landing of the opening double pike cost her a bit and we really liked the height achieved on the final double twist.

Wow, did we see a happening for Terin's floor debut in front of the home crowd! She executed all three very difficult tumbling passes with panache, starting with a full-in (pike) to open, followed by a 2 ½ twist to punch front (tuck), small hop forward only. The last pass was the best
because it's a rare and difficult one in collegiate gymnastics: a round off 1 ½ twist to a round off - 2 ½ twist, which she ended with a leg scale for extra flare before finishing the final dance moves in the middle of the floor. Dance elements were executed with more confidence and seemed
well-connected to the music.

This is the way Alexis wanted to go out for her final regular season home meet. Sky-high tumbling passes (whip-bhs-double pike, front-front full-front tuck, double tuck) and expressive dance had the crowd on their feet showing their appreciation by the end.

The electricity was heightened with this final routine and the judges were hard-pressed to keep from awarding the 10 but persevered in the face of the cheering and later booing as their final scores came up. Bama's coaches were grinning all the way.

Unable to catch the final score of her Yurchenko 1/1. She achieved excellent distance and height but she piked it down on the landing, one foot to the left on landing. Her technique is much more controlled now with this vault.

9.800 for a solid routine: double pike to open, front to a front full for her second pass; ended with a front to a whip ½ to layout-stepout, a little bit of form deduction on the final two elements but she never lost height or speed on executing these. Great response from the crowd to salute
her final floor routine as a senior in Coleman Coliseum (regular season).
