- Point Oh Five. That's as close as it gets. When it's that close, there are bound to be questions - 'might have beens', 'ifs and buts'. However, one thing is for certain. Even though Bama lost their first meet tonight, I don't think anyone left Coleman Coliseum thinking that the team that beat them is unbeatable. And when that team is the reigning National Champion and current number one team in the nation, well, you've got to feel that the GymTide took a step forward, even in defeat.
- The biggest step forward had to be on the balance beam. The coaches always say, "Don't go by their scores, go by their performance." Despite a little controversy, and difficulty, the beam team performed well.
- Another huge crowd! Stand up and give yourselves a hand, GymTide fans. The only small disappointment was that there weren't more GymDog fans in attendance. Perhaps the threatening weather kept some away. It's a shame, though, because their team performed well and a little more give and take in the arena would have made the night even more fun. Of course, I'm not sure where we would have put them, the coliseum was packed to the rafters - luckily, there's not a bad seat in the house in Coleman Coliseum!
- Speaking of the weather, it did apparently cause quite a traffic problem. The crowd, as a result, was very late arriving. By the time the first rotation ended, however, the stands were full. Hopefully, everyone made it to the meet and then returned home safely on a rainy night in Alabama.
- Now for a couple of announcements: First there will not be a Medalist Club reception after next Friday's meet with Arkansas in Coleman Coliseum. The next reception will be held after the Auburn meet on March 17th. Second, the Gala is Saturday, February 11, 2006, 7:00 p.m. - 10.00 p.m., in the Sheraton Four Points Hotel Ballroom. Proceeds from the event go towards the Medalist Club Post-graduate Scholarship. Tickets will be available at the door for $100.00, which admits up to four.
