gal. She scored a 9.80 on vault, 9.85 on bars, 9.725 on beam and 9.90 on the floor. This is a great confidence boost for her as the Tide heads into their final regular season meet before SECs.

Ashley Miles is being interviewed and says the team plans to focus on helping the freshman prepare for Senior Night more than themselves because they know the seniors are ready. She notes that she is very proud of the freshmen and intends to help them prepare for post-season competition. She also is complimenting the alumni who were inside the concourse with the team, cheering them and high-fiving them as they ran out, thanking them for all they did to prepare the way for what is now the tradition of Alabama gymnastics.

Bama will see many more faces here to help us pull off the season attendance average title.

to close). Bama was way too nervy on most of the events tonight but had more than enough difficulty on floor to pull the meet out.

She nails the opening pass to the delight of the crowd; follows with a front-front full front layout, nailed it; finishes with a double pike - another terrific landing. The Stanford Cardinal team had come over to watch her routine and were cheering her on, great sportsmanship. Tabitha Yim was really cheering hard and delighting in the routine. Miles receives a 10 from one judge, 9.95 from the second, for a final of 9.975.

Yim is looking very strong; she hops back on the double twist dismount so that will be a deduction. Otherwise the routine was crisp and confident.

front layout-front full-front layout; nice selling of the routine; on time with the music as well. She is in her element here. She finishes with a double pike, slight jam on the landing but she stands it up and salutes the judges with her final dance move.

Magee is up next for the Tide. She opens with a super 1/2 in 1/2 out, excellent landing. Comes back with a whip-whip to double pike but steps back out of bounds, going for the stick. She finishes with a beautiful front through to a double full. Nice recovery but she'll be hit on the second pass. She gets a 9.600.

and the switch leap to two straddle jumps; a little bobble on the full turn; double tuck dismount, waves arms a bit and takes a step back.

Erin comes back and nails her opening double pike, sky high on the flight. She comes back with a Rudi to layout stepout! In honor of Kristen Sterner who is in the audience tonight. Awesome. She finishes with a strong front-front full to front layout. Yahoo!

Ourada falls on her flight series of the bhs, bhs to layout step-out. Front aerial to split jump; finishes strongly with a bhs to double twist.

She opens with the double front Arabian and just nailed it! Gorgeous! Too much on the second pass but she stands up the 2 1/2 to punch front low landing at the knees on the second element. She finishes with a double pike, nice landing. The crowd is on their feet.

Purnell opens with a punch front, bhs, bhs to layout stepout; switch to wolf full; illusion; full turn; switch leap to gainer full twist, nice landing. Very confident.

ready for sharper performances. How bad do you want it Bama? She takes a lunging step forward on the double front but stands it up. Follows with a solid front-front full to front layout. She closes with a double pike and nails it! Way to recover!

The crowd is on their feet cheering the Tide and then settle back down as Lauren Elmore starts on beam. Nice flight series but she bobbles on the tuck full jump and the punch to wolf requires a balance check at the shoulder. Double twist, one step back.

from Purnell. They have a total on floor of 48.650 to the Tide's 48.825 on beam, so the Tide has made up ground and can pull this one out with at least five strong floor routines.

score will be dropped. Mari is now exhibiting and has a little trouble on her flight series but is solid on the remaining elements.

on her ring leap. So that's two falls for her tonight though she did stand up the 1/2 on front pike off vault during exhibition. She has another two slips on her double stag and the crowd cheers her regardless. We're thankful she's allright, those are some difficult moves she throws and must be precise.

Purnell steps out on her double pike to open (mat landing) and comes back with a front layout to tuck full. She closes with two front layouts.

meets. Erin Rightley is showing some nerves with her front aerial and the layout-stepout element of her flight series but is recovering with a nice switch leap to straddle and a switch leap to pike, nails the dismount again this week. That's the leadership we need from the junior.

raised (tuck full in first pass) and she under-rotates the second pass landing of the final element (front layout); she finishes with a double pike and does step out this time, low landing as well. Nice difficulty.

the flight series (bhs to layout stepout); has to take two balance checks on her punch front and a little check on the final leap of a three leap series (switch to straddle-straddle combo) but finishes with a double twist, small hop on the landing. Keep it going Bama!

She opens with a double pike, step forward on the landing, front tumbling in her second pass and closes with a Rudi to Shushonova.

Is the Tide a better road team than home? Scores this year would suggest yes.

The Tide had a 48.950 on the bars total to Stanford's 49.125 on vault. Those keys to victory are looking ominously on target right now. Can Bama bring it home on the beam and floor?

Magee just exhibited, had some trouble on the low bar but kept going and receives a 9.75. She was chest down a bit on the tuck full in dismount and took a step as well. The judges credited her for her handstands on top of the bar, the pak Salto and toe-shoot combination being so smooth. Bama has officially protested either Filetti's 9.725 or Banville's score of a 9.75 so we'll see if that score changes. Mari Bayer receives a 9.725 for her exhibition routine. Way to go Mari!

Terin Humphrey finishes up for the Tide with a strong routine after Filetti received a 9.725 for her bars.

Martin receves a 9.150 for her bars routine and Filetti takes a jam step forward on her dismount of the double front. Not what you want to do when the judges are looking for that final controlled element.

well. She receives a 9.825. Distance from vault table was limited as well.

Yim hit a 9.90 for her Y 1/1, nicely stuck, slight leg separation on landing and limited distance.

but this does not disrupt her routine and she absolutely sticks the landing, wow! Gorgeous. They could still take off big for that transition. And they do, a 9.75. That's about one to 1 1/2 deduction.

She nails her routine and the crowd goes ballistic! Stuck double layout ices the cake. She receives a 9.85.

She gets a 9.875. The judges are trying to stick to the rule about cast handstands and we are impressed so far.

Banville gets a 9.800 for her Y 1/1, nice form and control in the air, one step on the landing.

She vaults the Yurchenko 1/1 and has the tiniest hops on the landing, chest down just a bit as well as she goes for that stick.

"Betty Boop" gesture when one went off right after she was introduced and saluted the crowd.

Bama is wearing the "muscle" leo as we like to call it, it looks great on all of the gals. Shiny burgundy with a sunburst line of silver sprinkles on the bodice and back. Stanford is in shiny solid black with the back cut out (oooh la la!).

The team runs out to the cheers of their hometown fans. Another terrific crowd on hand tonight.

Danielle McAdams could not be here because she is expecting a baby! Meredith Willard just had a baby this past year and is here, looking terrific!

Time to knock that Cardinal off its perch and send it home to the Farm.

freshman Brittany Magee on the uneven bars and have put her in the line-up tonight, third position. She warmed up very well and has beautiful toe-point, extension and handstands right on top of the bar. We'll see if this stands after the 3 minute touch.

Injury Update: Tabitha Yim is back in the line-up for Stanford on vault, bars and balance beam. Stephanie Gentry is still recovering from an injury and will not be performing tonight except perhaps in an exhibition. For Alabama, the team is healthy overall but Mari Bayer is recovering from illness earlier this week and will only exhibit bars and balance beam.

Keys to victory:
For the Stanford Cardinal, they start on their strongest event, the uneven bars, and can put major pressure on the Tide right from the beginning if they hit their big release skills and stick their dismounts. This will set them up for the remaining three events where they don't have to be perfect but just need to stand up their routines and hope the Tide encounters problems along the way.

For Alabama, they absolutely must stick their landings on vault to get the crowd into it early in hopes this will rattle Stanford, a team that is not used to competing in front of 13,000 plus rowdy fans. Bama also needs to hit their handstands and nail their dismounts on the uneven bars to keep the pressure on Stanford. This is the Tide's meet to win or lose, as they have the superior depth and the home crowd behind them.

Brittany Magee is also going on bars tonight and looked much better this week in warm-ups, throwing a pak Salto and a toe-shoot transition to the high bar, a tuck full in dismount.
