While Georgia was terrific today, the judging was a little loose on floor and beam and in certain spots vault for BOTH teams. Alabama missed out again on hitting a solid road score. Kudos to the Dawgs for what looked like a post-season performance and it's back into the gym for more "beam" self-analysis for the Gymtide this next week.

Not sure what the coaches are going to say to the gymnasts this week. They had no pressure on them after floor and the last three gymnasts were set up beautifully by O'Neal, Overton and Lebegern. Dennis may not be ready for prime time on this event and Price had her first mishap of the year, so she is cut some slack. As far as Terin, we have no explanation. Coach reports that they had another exceptional week of practice this past week on this event and maybe the spark that was missing in the audience today affected their performance a bit. Anchor position may have to be revisited for this event at least in the next few weeks.

147.750. Georgia is at 148.375 after hitting an incredible 49.500 on beam (Heenan a 9.90 and C Kupets a 9.925).

She throws a double tuck in her second pass, stumbles forward a bit on the landing, chest down so this will be a deduction. Once she is in peak condition on floor, this routine will be much better. Overton also has more difficulty in her arsenal, including a pike full in, triple twist, and a 2 1/2 to punch layout, so we have much to look forward to next year.

She closes with a double pike - beautiful landing, double turn to finish into a Homma flip and salute to the judges. Very nice except for the jam on the 2 1/2 landing in her second pass.

missed anything. Ah yes, she did the Rudi but not the bonus connection (immediate layout stepout out of it). Lebegern opens with a triple, jams the landing just a bit to pull it around. She follows with a new second pass, the front-front full to front pike and will close with more difficult tumbling, the double pike this week - perfect landing!

jump, very nice flexibility, bhs to layout stepout, this team is just not going to miss today. Punch front, full turn switch leap to straddle jump, bhs to bhs to double tuck and she stuck the landing (whoo, a little close to the end of that beam.). She receives a well-deserved 9.95.

Gorgeous opening double pike from Erin Rightley, really terrific height and controlled landing (no steps), followed by a Rudi; no problems so far. Really selling it well - she will finish with a front-front full to front layout - very nice.

Bama scored a 49.300 on the vault and after two rotations has a 98.425 and UGA is at 98.875. The Tide will need to hit their floor routines to put any sort of pressure on the Dawgs while they are on beam. Coaches are looking for in bounds tumbling and great presentation. This will prepare the team well for the post-season.

For Georgia, they will try and set the tone immediately on vault, traditionally their strength and hope that Alabama falters on bars and has to dig themselves out of a hole early. If the Dawgs then go on to hit their bars and beam routines, then they expect to name their score on floor with the home crowd behind them. This team has so much quality depth, that even replacing one routine is not going to affect their scoring potential on any event. And it looks like with the exception of senior Ericksen on bars, that the Gymdawgs are healthy across the board for today's meet.

For Alabama, the coaches and veteran gymnasts who were here back in 2005 for the upset of the Gymdawgs will cue the new Tide stars to relax, have fun and perform their best for the Bama fans in attendance. Hopefully this will translate into a top road score for the Crimson Tide and if they secure another victory in the process, all the better.

Magee has been scratched from vault, as her reps were not looking as crisp as the coaches wanted on the final runs. Sometimes the timing is just not right on a particular day and rather than risk an injury it makes sense to move someone else into the line-up who is hitting.
