She noted that the team stayed much more focused on their routines tonight and did not let even the large Bama contingent distract them. The focus was on hitting the routines and pulling together.

and she has a definite air of excitement about her. Says she can get used to being fifth in the line-up on beam if that's where the team needs her. After her performance tonight that looks like where she belongs. Just fantastic tonight on vault, beam and her exhibition on floor as well. She may move into the line-up on floor next week at home against North Carolina with another great week of practice. Bars was looking strong but she encountered a little trouble on the pak Salto as we mentioned earlier.

She receives a 9.80. Bama went 7 for 7 on beam tonight and can only get better. Considering they had their lowest score of the season on floor (49.075) with a fall from Humphrey and a step just over the line from Dennis for a 9.775.

Peacock of Arkansas received a 9.825 for her floor score and Cortez just touched down on her final skill, a double pike, so they will count Stout's score of a 9.700.

That's what teamwork will do for you. Every girl stepped up tonight in a huge way on this event and they've got that big road score. All goals accomplished.

Brittany Magee is now up in the fifth position. One arm bhs to layout step-out, right on! A little balance check with the front aerial but she recovers nicely, full turn with leg horizontal, switch leap to pike jump, terrific, front punch, perfect, dismounts with a round off to a stuck 1 1/2 twist!!! We are loving the Tide on beam tonight! Hard work is paying off.

BHS to layout stepout, nice; switch leap to straddle-straddle, slight balance check but no stopping; switch side jump, awesome, full turn to side Somi, terrific, she dismounts with a perfect double twist, nails the landing to the delight of Coach Patterson, who hugs her hard.

Not one movement. David Patterson is the first to greet her with a high five. Way to go O! yells her mother behind us.

Switch leap to split leap full combination, follows with a front-front full to front layout, and she closes with some snazzy dancing before a double tuck to close, just steps on the line and Margie Pearce hesitates but then raises the flag. She receives an initial score of 9.875 before the automatic one tenth is taken, for a final score of 9.775.

on her double back dismount. Casey Jo Magee is finishing up for them and has a few problems but looks confident with a double twist dismount.

1 1/2 to a 2 1/2 after nailing the double front Arabian (no steps, floated down into place like a feather). So maybe she got a little excited and forced the second pass too hard. What a shame. She just touched down with one hand to break the fall so that will still be a major deduction.

Kaitlin White is doing a great job, starting with a front punch layout to Rudi, follows with a perfect double pike, but encounters some trouble on the final pass, a round off whip 1/2 to whip full twist, jams the final element landing a bit and just stays in bounds. What a shame, it was looking like one of her best routines ever.

bhs to bhs to layout stepout, no problem; switch leap to sheep jump, hitch kick to split jump, dismounts with a double tuck, hop forward, chest down but she stands it up.

She sticks the triple twist to open and comes back with a front-front full twist to front pike, beautiful control on the landing of that series and the final element especially. Dance is so much more expressive this week. She closes with a double pike - one step back to balance only, well in control. Wow, a great routine.

balance checks on both the jumps, fighting to stay on, front aerial, another balance check, then falls on her flight series, one arm bhs to layout stepout (fall on second element). Split leap to ring jump combination looked nice, she dismounts with a gainer back pike, hop on the landing.

pike and follows with a Rudi to layout step-out, timing is looking very good so far. She will close with a front-front full twist to a front layout, one controlled step forward on the landing.

out flight series, back tuck to straddle jump, a little balance check on the landing of the second element at the shoulders, punch front, bend to the side but she stays on, tuck full jump and she dismounts with a RO to 1 1/2, off to the side a bit with a small hop. Nice recovery routine.

Next pass is the front-front full twist to a front layout, one step forward to balance the landing. Nice dance and smiles for Judge Pearce and she will close with a double tuck, another perfect landing. Way to go O!

flight series (had a one arm bhs in a three series, fell on the layout portion). Back up and moving through the rest of her routine, she is looking fine, including a nice front walkover and she dismounts with a bhs to gainer full twist off the side of the beam. She receives a 9.150.

Hogs are at 97.600. Bama moves to the floor and needs to hit six for six and have some fun while they're at it.

Arkansas is having trouble on the bars with a 9.65 from Nagashima and Daniels gets a 9.6 while Casey Jo Magee just fell on her Deltchev release. She gets a 9.125.

Now, she did not stick the landing but her form in the air and height and distance were more impressive to the judges than Lebegern's and White's stuck Y 1/1 vaults earlier.

and she sticks in perfectly! A 9.85? Hello! Kaitlin comes right behind her and does the exact same thing with her Y 1/1 and gets a 9.85 as well. Hmmm.

Arkansas gets a 9.725 for their first bars routine from Drew and the second gymnast up has a straddle Jaeger with flexed feet too close to the bars but she keeps going and takes several steps back on her dismount.

Three minute touch is underway.

Scoring on vault is a little loose tonight, so if the Tide does what they are capable of on this event (#3 in the nation), they can get the scores up early.

and hops back on the double layout dismount. She receives a 9.825 possibly again this week due to soft knees. She hit the handstands well.

Terin hits her routine for a 9.90 and just misses perfect handstand on one uprise, a little scoot on the double layout dismount as well.

Brittany Magee exhibits, looks terrific with the Tkatchev (huge in the air) but just misses the pak Salto transition and has to kip back up. She receives a 9.55. More reps will lead to better performances.

Kaitlin White is up first, just missed perfect vertical on the first handstand but hits the Gienger beautifully, the pak Salto and nails the dismount chest high! Way to go Kaitlin.

Arkansas is wearing a jersey rust red leo with a silvery gray contrasting pattern on the sides going from thigh to upper shoulder and on the upper arm midway. They have a hog on the front side in white and each gymnast has her number on the back.

Alabama is dressed in the SEC lipstick red leo from last year's post-season competition, which has a white ribbon criss-crossing at the upper shoulders and around over the bodice and onto the back. One of our favorites.

there is a major social event competing with us tonight, "Mama Mia" at the local play theater. So it will be a small and intimate crowd with us tonight but the good news is that we have a ton of Alabama fans right behind us, as the Magee, White, and Humphrey families and their friends are here to support their favorite gals and team. Roll Tide!

For Arkansas, they need to hit five of six vaults to get the crowd involved immediately and this will set them up well on the bars, where they have a chance to score well with more difficult skills this year. Hoping for the Tide to falter like UGA did a few weeks ago, the Hogs will look to pull the upset with stuck routines on beam and floor.

For Alabama, the coaches have several goals they want to accomplish tonight, starting with a high road score that they've denied themselves at UGA and UF by not finishing the job on beam with their final 3 routines. So hitting handstands and sticking dismounts on bars as well as vault will be the team's first two objectives before heading to the floor for some fancy tumbling and ending once again on balance beam. Bama is eager for the chance to redeem themselves on beam this week and prove that they CAN get it done on the road on this event. If they don't, Arkansas is more than capable of stealing this one from the Tide.

Bama is really attacking the beam in warm-ups, not wasting ANY time, getting the skills done and getting off for the next gal. You can feel their intensity this week.

tonight and we are thrilled to see this, as she has a very unusual routine that we are looking forward to describing.

and will start off with the E pass of a front through to a double full. No whips tonight prior to the double pike. She will close with a front punch layout to full twist.

So assuming Erin reenters the floor line-up for tonight we will see Brittany and Casey exhibit. That's the order of the music at this time.
