Basically stuck the Yurchenko 1/1; height and distance are improving each week. |

Better distance achieved this week with the Yurchenko 1/1 and her hop back on the landing was the only major deduction. |
3 Ashley O'Neal
|
9.875 |
Landing was much more controlled with the pike 1/2 twist vault this week (no step back) and she achieved better rotation in the air with less leg split as well. |

Fantastic Yurchenko 1/1. Score says it all. |

This vault (Yurchenko 1/2 on - front pike off) looked even better than last week's 9.90 scoring effort, marred only by a small hop on the landing. |

Great distance as usual with the Yurchenko 1/1 but a hop back cost her the higher score. |

She had a little leg split on the Gienger release and encountered a little trouble on the kip cast to handstand after the pak Salto transition to the low bar but kept going with a glide straddle move instead. Nice landing of the double tuck out of a full turn on the high bar. Handstands were not as sharp as we have seen previously this year. |

Deductions likely came on the slight ankle split during the bail to handstand transition move to the low bar and a check on the landing of the full in dismount (chest down a bit as well). Nice straddle Jaeger release. |

One step on the landing of the double tuck dismount was the only deduction we saw. Handstands looked solid, toe-on toe-off to Tkatchev to pak Salto series was terrific. Judges seemed to place extra emphasis on the landings this week. |

Small step on the landing of the double front dismount, slight ankle separation during transition move to low bar (bail to handstand). Beautiful pike Jaeger release, handstands looked good too. |

What a trooper! After struggling through the 15 minute long warm-up on bars and agreeing to be scratched due to a tummy ache, the freshman showed her mettle by hitting her routine in the 3 minute touch and giving the coaches the okay to put her in. She improvised with a 1 1/2 turn on the high bar at one point but never broke her pace, hitting the toe-on toe-off 1/2 to Hindorff and landing the double layout chest high, one step to balance. Handstands were not as crisp as last week's 9.95 effort but her hunger to compete and not let her team down cannot be minimized. Kassi is a true team player. |

Great routine, highlighted by her aggressive execution of the critical bonus series of the toe-on 1/2 turn to front giant to Khorkina. The hop full at the end of the routine to giant-giant to double layout wowed the crowd once again. |

Tiny balance checks on the flight series and punch front, one step on the landing of the double front dismount. Good lead-off for the third week in a row. |

Also had tiny balance checks on the front aerial, slight shoulder drop on the switch leap as she moved into the straddle-straddle combination; solid flight series (bhs to layout stepout) and a hop on the landing of the gainer full twist out of a bhs. |

Great routine! The only deduction we saw likely came on the flight series of a bhs to layout step-out (slight shoulder shift to the left after the second element). Highlights included the switch side straddle leap and the side Somi and she iced it with a superb double twist, landed high and without a step. Crowd loved it! |

Much more confident routine with the adjusted flight series (bhs to layout step-out). Beautiful front aerial, solid leap series; closed with a round off to double tuck dismount, one step back on the landing. |

This routine was better than the score indicated. Hit all of her elements on the beam without a balance break: one-arm bhs to layout step-out, front aerial, full turn leg extended horizontal, switch leap to pike jump (gorgeous amplitude), punch front. Stepped forward on the landing of the 1 1/2 twist dismount, and this is where most of the deduction likely came. |

Full series this week in combination: full twisting bhs to bhs to layout step-out. Nice switch leap to wolf, Omeliantchik looked good, closed with a very strong round off to bhs to double tuck (good height), one step back on the landing; well-controlled otherwise. |

She increased her difficulty on the opening and final tumbling passes: tuck through to a round off to bhs to double pike (landed chest down a bit and step forward), second pass of a front-front full twist to front layout, nice control; ended with a front tuck through to a round off to bhs to double tuck, nailed the landing. |

Hit all of her passes (double pike to open, front through to a 1 1/2, front-front full twist to front layout) and her leap series (switch split full to wolf full) was executed with tighter twisting and greater amplitude this week. |

Double pike to open, excellent height and control on the landing, second pass of a round off to whip 1/2 to front full twist was also executed very well; closed with a terrific running front punch layout to immediate 1 1/2 twist. |

9.825 |
Triple twist to open, front-front full twist to front pike, closed with a double pike, slightly bent forward at the chest, one step as well to check the landing. One leap series may have been deducted due to limited amplitude and position in the air. |

Popped up and back on the landing of her double front Arabian to open, a deduction of at least one tenth (seemed to not anticipate the landing as well this week but continued on with the routine without further problems). Nice 1 1/2 through to a 2 1/2 (though a slight jam occurred on the final element landing); closed with a strong double pike. |

Opened with another soaring double layout, well-controlled landing. Added difficulty this week in her second tumbling pass with a tuck full in and in her third pass with a tuck through to a round off bhs to double tuck. Finished right with the music at the end of her final tumbling pass and a drop down dance move had to be left out given the lack of remaining time, requiring a small deduction. With the new dance sequences that Dana Duckworth incorporated at key points, this routine now flows much better from start to finish. |
