Great competition tonight from our freshman and she is being interviewed now by Tommy Deas and Ray Melick from the Tuscaloosa News and Birmingham News respectively about her outstanding performance on vault and floor especially, with twin 9.95s posted and a respectable 9.750 on the uneven bars.

The Tide finally pushes past the 197 mark this season and they have not put all their firepower out on the floor. It can only get better with this confidence booster if they can stay healthy and get Terin to full health soon.

We'll check this later - good difficulty, just needs to polish up the execution.

Melanie Sinclair - Onodi - not fully connected to the bhs to layout stepout - switch to straddle - double pike dismount - she gets up there and gets down after throwing enough elements - Score: 9.875

Crowd is clapping for her - front-front full to front tuck - perfect timed landing with the music! Smiling all the way - dance elements - switch leap to straddle full jump - will finish with a double pike - another great landing. SCORE: 9.875

Nicola Willis - straddle to handstand mount - tuck punch - hop forward on landing - straddle-straddle jump combination - hitch kick to side straddle jump - very slow and deliberate with her moves - needs to pick it up - full turn - trying to stay on no doubt - bhs to bhs to full twist - hop on the landing. Score: 9.775

bhs to layout step-out - took five seconds to set that one up! - switch leap to two straddle jumps - front aerial to back walkover - round off to double twist, popped the landing up and off to the right. Score: 9.825 - that's an interesting score considering the obvious and extended pause at the beginning of her flight series and the dismount having form problems along with a rather jarred landing.

Corey Hartung opens with a front through to a double full - step to the side to control the landing - triple on her second pass, has to pull it around a bit but stands it up - closes with a 2 1/2 - a little leg separation so the judges may take an execution deduction there as well. Score: 9.950 - that's a pretty high score for legs crossed on the first and third passes - difficulty was wonderful, as was the dance but there was at least a tenth worth of form deductions in the execution of the big skills.

Melanie Sinclair - opens on floor - double layout to open - front-front full only, arched back on landing, no third element out of it - double pike to close out. Score: 9.875 a little high considering that weak second pass but she sold it very well.

Flight series looks good - switch leap to straddle - side straddle jump - solid - full turn - side Somi - bent again at the waist but she does not wobble - nails the double twist dismount out of a round off and the crowd cheers heartily. Score: 9.850

Nicola Willis - senior for Florida on floor - nice music - opens with a double layout - not much amplitude though but she nails it - tuck through to round off to double tuck - nice landing - like to see a little more amplitude on those leaps - nice finish of a double pike. Score: 9.850

full turn - front walkover to side aerial - beautiful - split full leap - front aerial - slight step in place - switch leap to wolf full to flutter jump - wolf full - running full twist - nice landing! Score: 9.725

Ashley Reed - pike full in - large step back but she stands it up - she has really increased her difficulty on this event - double pike - pops up and bounds back two steps, so that will be a deduction - nice dance elements on the floor - Techno music - closes with a front-front to front full - a rather weak ending, so the judges have some room to deduct there. Score: 9.775

Front aerial to start - slight check at the shoulder but she keeps going - switch leap to straddle - bhs to layout step-out - sheep jump - running side straddle jump - very nice - dismounts with a bhs to gainer full twist - small hop on landing. Score: 9.800

Senior Tiffany Murry opens on floor with an off center tuck full in - form problems as well - follows with a better double tuck - drum beat music - loud - final pass - double pike to close - solid, slight leg split mid-air. Score: 9.850

Cassie Martin receives a 9.775 for her exhibition routine on bars, taking one slight step back on the landing of her Comaneci, this week completed in tandem with the front giant 1/2 turn to toe-on to 1/2 twisting dismount.

great twirl back over when she was not in proper position to throw the toe-on 1/2 to front giant and yet still ends up completing the Khorkina and hops back on the double layout - the judges are conferring because one judge wants to give it a start value of 9.90 Score: 9.725.

Ashley Reed - the senior from Florida - nails her 1 1/2 Yurchenko Score: 9.950

to giant to Tkatchev - double layout - hop back - Score: 9.750 - some trouble again on the pirouetting and that may be it for trying the 1 1/2 because it's not getting consistent in competition and the team will need her higher scoring potential on this event in post-season. So we'll look for possible changes in this routine come next week.

Ricki Lebegern redeems herself magnificently from last week, hitting her handstands, straddle Jaeger and just nails the dismount beautifully (full in) Score: 9.825

Courtney Gladys starts off for the Gators on vault - very nice Hristakieva vault - bascially stuck it and maintained excellent form throughout - just a little off center. Score: 9.875

Kaitlin White - best routine she's ever done! The crowd is there with her on their feet! Hit all the handstands and nailed her dismount - Gienger and pak Salto as well! Score: 9.825 - not showing her the love judges!

The Tide has a great opportunity to build up their lead if they can execute their elements crisply and make those handstands on bars, as well as stick those landings. Bama generally rotates pretty confidently on the bars as well, so hopefully we will see them rewarded tonight for that area of strength. No room for error!

Maranda Smith is up on bars for the Gators - Tkatchev and a toe shot straddle, double front dismount - nice elements but routine is a little slow and deliberate, some leg separation on the landing of the dismount and a step as well. Score: 9.75

Alabama is wearing the deep burgundy solid with sequined teardrop swirls on the upper bodice and draping the upper back.

Florida is decked out almost in solid black with orange crush trim on the collar and sleeve cuffs, shiny sequins embedded throughout.

This is probably the first time Florida has ever entered Coleman Coliseum with relative confidence about their ability to defeat Alabama straight up. This is because they are the defending SEC Champion with a new winning attitude, where they simply expect to be victorious now, no matter the opponent or competition venue. This is the attitude of their star gymnasts, Melanie Sinclair and Amanda Castillo - and it has proven to be contagious across their entire team since their arrival just one year ago. So Florida expects to perform tonight at a high level on each event to keep them within the top 3 as they prepare for post-season. On the other hand, Alabama is not yet where Florida is in terms of depth and the ability to throw all of their difficult skills at this mid-season point, so the Tide must be clean and polished in executing every element of each routine to maximize their scoring output. If they can start strong on vault with the newer explosive sets from Ricki Lebegern and Kassi Price, things should look up from there for a powerful bars, beam and floor set. Here's hoping the Tide can pull off the upset tonight against a very talented Florida Gators squad. Roll Tide!

as Florida finishes up their final seconds on the balance beam. They will have their full platoon of talented gymnasts tonight, including sophomores.

Change in line-up for now on floor: Kaitlin has been inserted for Brittany Magee after long warm-ups since she was nailing the E tumbling pass consistently. The coaches want to have five routines out there if possible with E tumbling passes in order to have a chance to garner the highest score possible. But they must stand them up confidently with minimal execution deductions.

Kaitlin White will be in the 7th position tonight on floor, with Brittany Magee moving into the line-up again for the second week in a row and Kayla returning to the rotation. Casey Overton, Ricki Lebegern, Morgan Dennis will round out floor with Kassi Price. Megan Mashburn will likely do another exhibition, her first in front of the home crowd. She had a nice showing last week at LSU.

Kayla Hoffman, who rested last week from competition on these two events after experiencing her first major setbacks on uneven bars (9.350) and an uncharacteristic vault performance (9.775). She is ready to get back in the all around tonight and the Tide will need her to perform at her best.
