Kaitlin White and Brittany Magee are being interviewed on the radio for their terrific efforts tonight. Kaitlin scored a 9.80 on the uneven bars, 9.85 on the floor and a 9.875 on the vault. Brittany scored a 9.90 on the balance beam and a 9.90 on the vault. Way to come through for the Tide.

Morgan Dennis is 1st, Kayla Hoffman is 2nd, Brittany Magee in 3rd with Kiwi Redmond of OU and Kaitlin and Ricki tie for 5th.

Oklahoma will advance as well with a 195.875 because Illinois' last gymnast falls and they will finish with a 195.425.

197.300 final total. Illinois and OU will fight it out for the final spot.

Tide gymnasts are hugging each other with joy for a great performance to seal the victory. One judge scored it a 10.

Another perfectly stuck Y 1/1 - crowd behind us yelling "10" - Unbelievable performance by the Tide - they are in a zone on this event but the judges are staying stingy. But Morgan gets the big score of 9.95 for her great amplitude and stuck landing chest high.

She follows with a Y 1.5 and shifts the slightest bit on the landing from our angle for a 9.875.

in a good while - she certainly warmed up her technique enough to garner it in competition and she is rewarded with a 9.90.

Beautiful 2 1/2 to front layout - gorgeous in the air and on landing - huge smile now - split leap to split leap full jump combo - finishes with a double pike - stumbles forward on one step - chest down a bit, hence the step forward - routine was looking great up until that point, so they will have to deduct for that execution but they take minimal - 9.875 is the final score so she gets rewarded for the extra difficulty.

Opens with a 2 1/2 to punch tuck - great landing as usual - follows with a double tuck - lands it chest high - super control - ends with a difficult double pike - chest down a bit, legs also separated - moves into the final dance element and salutes the judges. Score: 9.850 though one gave her a 9.90 and one a 9.80.

She opens with a triple twist - nice control on the landing - one step back to balance - head high - front -front full twist to front layout - very nice - split leap to split full combination - finishes with a double pike - step back to balance the landing - great form in the air - on time with the music too. Amy Glass of Boise State fell on her beam routine and scores a 9.250

they are in a good position now to finish strong. They will go out on a bye in rotation four and then return on floor and vault. Team total is 98.425 after two rotations. Illinois is in second at 97.825, BOise State is at 97.700 and Oklahoma is at 97.575, SEMO at 97.025 and ASU is at 96.675.

Great gut check performance by Magee! Score: 9.900!

Kaitlin stands up her routine well - full turn to Gienger release, pak salto, full turn to double tuck - sticks the landing but has to hold it bent forward. Score: 9.800

Alabama is wearing the SEC leo with the crimson and white shiny metallic contrast, highlighted by the white swirling waves on the front, sheer netting on the upper sleeves and shoulders.

Illinois Champaign is wearing orange and dark blue metallic with some white interspersing parts and sequins etching the lightening-like streaks. Shazam!

Shaposhnikova looks okay but her shoot back to the low bar is over arched and she has to do an extra swing back under the bar to control it - finishes with a double tuck, hop in place. We'll see what the judges have to say on this routine. Score: 9.450

Full turn to Tkatchev - straddle back to hs on the low bar - full turn to double tuck, chest down, legs separated but she does not move on the landing. Crowd loves it! Score: 9.750

Mercurio is doing well on the beam for ASU - switch split to tuck full combination; also threw a punch tuck earlier. Score: 9.725

Oklahoma is wearing carnelian red metallic and white with silver flame streaks vertically streaking the front and over the left shoulder to the back.

SEMO is in a basic black and red leo with sequins lining the contrasting bands.

ASU is in black, yellow gold and purple-red shiny metallic with sequins also lining the contrasting color bands.

Boise State is in electric blue and orange crush with waves undulating on the front and back, lots of sequins as well throughout.

Oklahoma is on bars, SEMO on floor, ASU on beam and Boise State on vault.

Arizona State, Boise State, Illinois-Champaign, Oklahoma and then Southeast Missouri.

Well, Bama Nation, the Alabama Crimson GymTide is in a familiar spot as they seek their 26th straight NCAA Nationals appearance - they are seeded #1 coming into the post-season regional competition that will only allow two teams to advance to the NCAAs. So the GymTide cannot rely on their reputation or tradition in this all or none competition - they must perform as if it is Super Six Night - and that means taking control of the meet from the beginning. Bama once again has a favorable rotation to help pull this off, which is the same one they had at SECs but with one exception - they will not have to do an extra bye before finishing up on vault since there are only six teams performing tonight. The GymTide will definitely need to perform with the same level of intensity and polish that we saw at SECs. This means aggressively swinging bars to open in rotation two, hitting those handstand positions and nailing the dismounts. The momentum from this first event can then be channeled to the balance beam, where the Tide hopefully will showcase the same confident power performances they demonstrated at SECs. A bye before the floor will allow the Bama gymnasts and coaches time to reflect on their efforts to that point and prepare for the final push on floor and vault, their two strongest events this past season. We liked the confidence and focus they showed in the warm-ups yesterday and today - hopefully this will transfer to a successful outing here tonight in Norman, Oklahoma and we will see the Tide secure their 23rd Regional Title. It should be a great meet!

Kassi is trying to find her landing spot with the Hristakieva vault. Megan also is running timers before twisting the front pike. Another great vault from Kayla and Brittany is definitely getting better amplitude on this vault table.

Kayla comes right behind her and shows some explosive push off the horse on her Y 1/1, one step only.

Much better amplitude on that double tuck today. Double layout from Morgan looks good - triple from Kassi - just a little slow in the air but she pulls it around. Super front punch to immediate front double full from Kaitlin - David Patterson gives her a hearty cheer for that one.

Congratulations to the football team for another outstanding A-Day Spring Game - 78,200 showed up, another national record but not quite enough to match the awesome showing from last year. Great performances from Terry Grant, Alfred McCullough, JP Wilson, Rolando McClain and Darius Hanks, to name a few.

Casey Overton works through her flight series, leaps, followed by Ashley O'Neal. Music is pulsing - great sound system and we are right here in front of the floor and hear the reverberations in our skin. Ricki and Brittany working out the kinks on beam and staying on so far - Kassi shows a nice flight series followed by extra extension on her leap series - nice wolf front aerial as well. She may dismount with a double tuck today. Morgan follows with a nice front aerial and works her flight series first without the second layout, just to get a feel for the beam. Leap series follows - side straddle leap looks good - timer for dismount next, where she struggled a bit yesterday but polished up by end of the work out. Amanda is now up - so far looks good with her front aerial to side aerial combo, straddle full jump - Casey back up for the dismount timing and another flight series rep.

Nice straddle Jaeger release. Working to stick that dismount of the full in tuck. Kassi Price back up one more time to go through her entire routine. Another nice dismount from Morgan Dennis and Kassi Price and the gals move to the balance beam for rotation three 15 minute rep.

and Kaitlin White look confident. Kayla will not be throwing the toe-shoot straddle back to the high bar but hopefully that will be back in by nationals if the gals can secure their spot tonight. Excellent run through also just then by Cassie Martin, one small step on the landing of the toe-on 1/2 off dismount. Kassi Price is a perfectionist, going over and over that timing for the Hindorff - sticks the double layout but still not totally pleased with that effort.

Lots of parents, relatives are here for the GymTide, including a large contingent of Kayla Hoffman family and friends. So the team will hear from their fan base tonight and need to do them proud.

Alabama, Oklahoma, Boise State, Illinois-Champaign, Arizona State and Southeast Missouri State are here to compete for the top two spots that will yield a shot at NCAA Nationals in two weeks at Athens, Georgia.

Alabama comes in as the #1 seeded team for this regional, finishing ranked #4 in the nation after the SEC Championships two weeks ago. Oklahoma is the #2 seed, finishing #10 in the regular season and winning the Big 12 Championship two weeks ago. There is expected to be strong competition from Boise State and Illinois in this meet, while Arizona State will find it much harder going to make it out of this region to NCAAs, as they have recently lost their two top gymnasts, Tia Orlando (season-ending injury two weeks ago) and Nicole Harris, who retired approximately four weeks ago due to physical reasons. So quality depth has had an immediate impact on this Sundevils team. SEMO is not expected to challenge seriously for a spot but you can never tell - if they go 24 for 24 pressure can be put on the top teams immediately.
