Solid opening routine but we think this scored lower than last week because her pirouetting was not as sharp and on top of the high bar and her dismount had a hop back on landing (full turn to double tuck). |

This routine had better rhythm, speed and she stuck the double tuck dismount, chest high. Full turn to a Gienger release (legs together throughout). It's great to see her growing confidence on this event and how her hard work in the off-season has paid off. |

A gratifying return to competition on this event in front of her parents and the strong UA crowd that traveled down for the meet. Beautiful front giant work and a soaring Tkatchev release with excellent toe point, extension and amplitude. Handstands will require more work in the gym but her new Comaneci dismount looks like a good substitution for the always scary 1 1/2 twisting flyaway. |

Much better effort this week with her handstands and just missed a perfect stuck landing of the double front (cowboy form also noted). Pike Jaeger release had her usual amazing form and amplitude. |

Improvised again this week but more confidently completed the 1 1/2 turn and then another giant to Tkatchev release, very nice straddle toe-shoot transition back to the high bar, huge double layout dismount that she whipped around quickly and with great distance, one step back on the landing. Handstands, toe point, extension set this routine apart. |

Just a terrific routine from start to finish. All handstands were vertical, the rhythm, pacing was smoother and all big skills were nailed (Hindorff release, pirouetting, double layout dismount). Kassi's overall form appears to have improved as a result of not pressing or jerking the big element moves as she had a tendency to do last year.

Y 1/1: Went in a little flat and was again off center from the vault table, also one controlled step on the landing. Form and twisting looked solid enough to garner a little bit better score despite these noticeable deductions. |

Y 1/1: Went in powerful but came out flat as well, hop back on the landing as well. Greater distance from the vault table may have garnered her the slightly higher score than Ricki's.

Y 1/1: Pretty in the air form-wise but she seemed to pike this down too quickly, almost seeming to jam the landing a bit. Off center a bit from the table as well. |

Y 1/1: Lots of amplitude but she piked it down at the end, perhaps in hope of sticking it.

First pass was excellent - front tuck through to a round off to bhs to high double pike, great landing. Second pass of front to front full twist to front layout had a controlled balance step forward; she landed the final double tuck pass with chest down a bit and a step forward to balance, hence the most likely deductions in her final score. Leaps, dance and showmanship were excellent but the music may need a kick-me-up for the final tumbling sequence so she can finish strongly
in front of road crowds. The routine music-wise just seemed to end a bit flat despite Ashley's strong effort.

Confused by this score initially we think we can explain some of the deductions after reviewing the video, but not all of them. First, Kaitlin's music had to be restarted when the first few notes were clearly not her timed rendition. The opening pass of a double pike was landed well but she had her head down and took a small step in place to check herself (at first we thought maybe she had slightly jarred herself on landing). The second pass was a whip 1/2 to front
full, a form deduction taken likely on the second element as she appeared to bend her legs early in anticipation of the landing and took a controlled step forward into the corner; final pass of running punch front layout to immediate 1 1/2 was landed chest high, one foot back to control the landing - no obvious problems here. It should also be noted that Kaitlin definitely did not have the same panache and showmanship this week with her routine that we saw last week at home against
Illinois, and this may have affected the scoring too. She usually glows and really sells herself on the floor and she clearly wasn't this week. Her start value perhaps with the second pass being questioanble in execution may be where the judges took off the most. We did not notice any missed dance or leap elements. |

Wow, what a superb opening tumbling pass of the whip-whip-bhs to double pike (super high, great form and a perfect landing). Unfortunately, her second pass had problems, when she completed the front to front full but left out the front tuck out of this because she landed the second element with a deep knee bend (thus not having any momentum to even try the third element) - this reduced her overall start value. Her final pass was a double pike, landed with knees bent, requiring
two small shuffle steps to her left to adjust. Brittany also lost herself a bit in the final dance sequence as she closed out the routine, so she was likely deducted a little here too. This routine simply needs more reps to perfect. We learned later that she was apparently starting to come down with a bug and may have run out of energy on the last two passes, but kudos to her for standing them up.

Wherever the deductions were in this routine we could not find them. Simply awesome. Pike full in to open, 2 1/2 to punch layout for her second pass and closed with a superb double pike, great landing as well. Dance, showmanship, immaculate toe point - this routine had it all.

Smile smile smile Kassi and you'll break a 9.90! Strong tumbling sequences of a 2 1/2 to punch tuck, double tuck (very high, well controlled landing too), finished with a double pike, slight leg split mid-air, but again well controlled. Nice dance and great music to accompany it. A little more sassy smiling at key points in the routine will notch this score up.

No problems this week staying in bounds with the second pass - started with another signature soaring double layout to open, followed by a tuck through to round off to bhs to double tuck and finished with a double tuck, all well-controlled landings. Morgan has learned how to smile throughout this routine and some of the dance sequences just need some fine-tuning.

Opened the final event for the Tide with another confident set. Small deductions likely occurred on the slightest shoulder shift during her full turn, a little bend forward at the knees on the landing of the side straddle leap and a hop on the landing of the gainer full twist out of a bhs.

The only even slightly noticeable balance check we saw on the video review was during the wolf full jump near the end of her routine (one quick foot shift). Stuck the dismount of the running front full twist off the end of the beam. This routine continues to have a lower start value, with the judges again possibly not giving her full credit for the one-arm bhs to layout-stepout as her backwards salto. Amanda otherwise has impressive rhythm and flow with this routine and she never really stops from one element to the next. It remains a favorite of ours too because of the unique skills she throws.

Solid routine until the side Somi - noticeable balance check with the arm to steady and one foot lifted up and back in place; dismount of the double twist also had a step forward as she went for the stick.

More confident effort this week - deducted most likely on the combo front aerial to gainer back layout-stepout (bent at waist on second element but flowed quickly back up out of this to try and cover). Switch leap to switch leap combination could have used a little more amplitude on the second element; very nice bhs to two-footed bhs to double twist, small hop back on the landing.

Almost bent at the waist on her full turn but recovered quickly by shifting one foot to avoid further problems with this element. The flow of this routine could have been smoother but she appeared to be focusing really hard on completing the elements without a significant break. Nice front aerial and the bhs to layout stepout continues to show better form, extension, control this year.

She also had a shoulder bend and quick roll back up on the landing of her second flight element (gainer one-arm bhs to layout step-out) in the opening series; rest of the routine looked very solid - front aerial, switch leap to pike jump to tuck full jump (perfect execution of these elements in sequence), beautiful gainer layout stepout near the end and a dismount this week of the round off to 1 1/2 twist, balance step forward.
