Tightly executed Yurchenko 1/1 vault with a small controlled step on the landing. Very nice form in the air, greater amplitude achieved this week as well. |

Nice explosion off the vault table but elbows were bent a little on push off and she was off center from the table on landing. Vault looked solid in the air, good rotation and distance gained.

Tight form, great amplitude, well centered-landing on her Yurchenko 1/1. By far her best vault effort since arriving at the Capstone. |

Stuck the Y 1/1 - slightest bend forward on landing to hold the stick. Great form and rotation in the air and distance achieved was excellent as well.

Another week - another stick - this was the Y 1/1 score she should have received last week.

Small controlled hop back and a little pike down as well on the landing of the Y 1/1, but what great amplitude and rotation she achieved in the air.

Not sure why this routine scored this low - major amplitude gained on the pike Jaeger, handstands were within required degrees, smallest of checks on the landing of the double front dismount. First up blues?

Great routine - amazing form and amplitude on the Gienger release and the Pak Salto, excellent final handstand right on top of the high bar before her last pirouette to a double tuck dismount, stuck chest high. One just scored this a 9.90.

Deductions occurred primarily in two places: she caught her straddle Jaeger (regrasp) too close in to the high bar, grazing her eyes and losing a few eyelashes in the process. She had to stop her momentum on the bar (did not jump off though) to kip cast back up and complete her routine, landing the full in dismount with a jammed step forward, chest down a bit as well. So even though she was given credit for the completed release, she received heavy deduction for stopping on the
bar (execution error considered tantamount to a fall). There were other small form errors here and there as well.

Threw the 1 1/2 with a little ankle switch flair on top of the high bar but kept going with confidence, hitting a nice Tkatchev and a toe shoot straddle transition back to the high bar, stuck the double layout with excellent distance from the high bar. |

Another terrific set - 1/2 turn to front giant to Khorkina release, just missed sticking the double layout perfectly. |

Great handstands, Hindorff, pirouetting on top of the bar, excellent double layout dismount. |

Her standard confident set - was looking like a 9.90 plus score until she popped the dismount landing up and forward a step (bhs to full twist off the side), going for the stick.

Trouble on the opening flight series, first element: front handspring (balance check) to side aerial, losing bonus connection and devaluing her set from the beginning. Rest of routine was a little tentative in areas and she needed a little more amplitude on her leaps and jumps, tiny hop on the running front full twist dismount as well.

Very nice set - only balance check observed was during the side Somi (bent forward a bit with small arm wave to balance after landing); very nice dismount - round off to double twist.

Had trouble with the opening flight series, falling on the second element (layout step-out) and shortly after this on the switch leap to two straddle jumps (second jump missed right foot and had to sit down on one knee before hopping off); rest of the routine was rock solid, including a switch leap to switch leap combination and she stuck the impressive bhs to two-footed bhs to double twist. Coach prepped her quickly afterwards to put it immediately out of her mind and get ready for a
big effort on floor exercise, which Kayla did in magnificent fashion. Better days ahead on this event.

A leg lifted on the front aerial was her only obvious balance check - nice flight series of the bhs to layout step-out (knees were a little bent in flight); switch leap to wolf - full turn was no problem this week - wolf front aerial to beat jump could have used a little more amplitude - strong round off to double pike, a little leg separation in flight and on landing but basically stuck it.

Excellent form and amplitude on the front aerial and the flight series of the bhs to layout step-out this week; switch leap to straddle (second element needs more amplitude and flexibility), running side straddle leap also could use more amplitude - very nice round off to high double tuck dismount - small check on the landing, chest high.

Opened with a super high double tuck, great landing (tuck was opened just a tad bit, possible form error deduction here); second pass of a front-front full twist to front layout - a little too much power propelled her forward on one foot but she was still well-centered and in control of the landing; finished with a perfect double pike this week. Score arguably should have been a little higher.

Give her two weeks to totally change her routine and voila! you get a 9.850 score. New music (Shannon Hrozek's from 2002) and dance moves, along with a change in some of her tumbling passes proved to be the secret formula to success. Opened with a round off to whip back through to a double tuck (great amplitude and control on the landing of the second element); followed with a round off to whip 1/2-to punch front layout; ended with a whip 1/2 to whip full twist - all tumbling
passes and dance sequences executed with a noticeably improved confidence level in Casey; in the post-meet interview she admitted that this routine and music seem to fit her better and she is already working on tumbling upgrades to include a whip through to a double pike or even a pike full-in.

Opened with the more difficult E pass this week (front punch layout to immediate front double full - landed confidently but just missed going out of bounds; second pass of a double pike, great landing and position in the air; last pass was where she apparently slipped a bit on her opening running front punch layout, leaving her to compensate with a simple front tuck salto and two steps forward and out of bounds. So she lost credit for the last pass and had to be deducted for the out
of bounds, as well as overall execution errors on this series. Still, 9.150 is a tad harsh, don't you think?

Opened with a 2 1/2 to punch tuck, nice control - form on the first element could be a little tighter; great second pass of the double tuck (excellent amplitude and landing); finished with a double pike, little leg split on landing. Great dance, smiling was better this week at key points.

Much better amplitude this week on the opening pike full in - followed with a terrific 2 1/2 to punch front layout; finished with a beautiful double pike - nice dance and crowd engagement all the way.

9.725 |
Added more difficulty this week - opened with another soaring double layout, followed with a perfect tuck full in (landed on a dime); last pass of the front tuck through to round off to back handspring to double tuck showed a little fatigue - two lunging steps forward to save it, chest down - new music splices and additional crowd-pleasing dance moves will keep her in contention for individual honors during the post-season.
