Tonight marks a special night for Bama Gymnastics fans as Bama signee Terin Humphrey competes for Team USA as they go for the Gold in the 2004 Olympic Games. Terin will complete on the Uneven Parallel Bars and will be the USA's lead off competitor on the Balance Beam. We all know what a huge job being the lead off competitor is and with the Team Finals Format with three athletes up, three scores count, there is no margin for error.

At the 2004 championships of the USA I watched Terin "nail" her beam routine the last rotation of the competition, last competitor in the entire event and with no 30 second timed warm-up prior to the event. I feel certain that she will do awesome tonight just as she did at Championships and make the Bama Nation proud!

I had the opportunity to go visit Terin at her home in Bates City, Missouri a week before she left for the Olympics. We had a great time just visiting with Terin's best friend and her family as well Terin's mom and dad Steve and Lisa Humphrey. It is also exciting that Terin's brother will be joining the family over in Athens as he has received a leave from the Military to do so. It was so relaxing to just visit and I did get to see all Terin's really "cool" USA uniforms and Olympic apparel.

Terin will be joining us at the Capstone in January after she completes the T J Maxx Tour of Champions as an amateur. I assured Terin that everyone would understand her desire to participate in such an exciting event and that we would welcome her to our team on January 1st. I am planning to join her at some point during the Tour just to cheer her on! So stay glued to your sets tonight as NBC brings you all the excitement from Athens! Can't wait......Roll Tide and Go USA.
