Never underestimate the "Power of Pink" and the support of the loyal Bama Gymnastics fans! Friday, January 20th will be a day to remember for years to come. The first sell-out crowd in the newly renovated Coleman Coliseum was a dream come true for me as a coach; and I know it will forever be a "Pink Letter Day" in the eyes of our student-athletes. As we began warm-ups and fans started to enter the arena, I knew it would be a tremendous crowd and event. More than an hour before the meet started, fans were sitting in the "rafters" of Coleman Coliseum. As it came close to the start of the event, the coliseum turned into a "SEA OF PINK." Our ladies were so excited and did an amazing job of showing maturity and composure as this very young squad set out to make history, as well as compete against a talented Florida Gator team. From the smiles and jitters, to the charisma of Ashley Miles on floor exercise, the evening was a complete success. To me the most significant moment of the entire evening was when the "Big Check" for $90,000 was presented to members of the DCH Administration and the DCH Breast Cancer Fund. This fund will assure that disadvantaged women in the West Alabama area will be able to seek diagnostic help and treatment in the fight against breast cancer. My sincere appreciation goes to our event sponsor Alfa Insurance and David Desantis of Tuscaloosa Toyota. Without their support our 2^nd Annual "Drive 4 the Cure" would not have been possible.

We are headed to the Plains of Auburn this week in another "Pink" night, where the Tigers will celebrate their women's athletic program and join us in helping to promote awareness in the fight against breast cancer. So don't put your pink away just yet.....join us on the plains for another great event. Hope to see you there. I am still "Thinking Pink and Wearing Pink."
