I would like to take this opportunity to extend my appreciation to the many alumni, friends, staff members, family, volunteers and of course our fans for helping make this past Saturday night such a huge success. It is not a secret that since the Southeastern Conference Championship our young team has faced numerous physical challenges in preparation for the NCAA Central Region Championship. Our team has had little depth this season for the simple reason we have been without three scholarship athletes for the entire year, yet still have had a sensational season with many individual and team accomplishments.

As coaches we constantly stress the importance of being ready for competition because you never know when circumstances might change and you will be called upon and needed by your team. This past weekend, Amanda Montgomery demonstrated this as well as any athlete ever has in the history of our program. After doing only a handful of exhibition routines this season, she stayed mentally and physically prepared when many might have been discouraged. Saturday night she was needed by her team on two events and she responded like a Champion, nailing both of her routines. The excitement her performances generated within our entire team gave us a huge boost to propel us to our 22nd Regional NCAA Championship and a berth in the NCAA finals. If Amanda had not been ready to step in on those two events we might not be making travel plans to Salt Lake City and our 25th Consecutive NCAA Championship.

It was truly a Championship Weekend to remember and we are thrilled to be traveling to Salt Lake City, the site of our 1st NCAA Championship in 1988. There is still much more to be done......so stay tuned as we bring you all the action live from Salt Lake City via the web.
