This past Friday I had the wonderful pleasure to serve the B'ham Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as a celebrity Waiter ......the object of the evening was to serve my guests in an entertaining manner while raising "Tips" for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. As I drove to B'ham I felt tired and a little worn out from a long week of work and family obligations. I certainly wasn't the fountain of energy I had hoped upon my arrival at The Club! After meeting with the other waiters and then seeing the guests arrive I began to feel as if I was asked to participate in this event because I could help make a difference. I quickly met my guests Jean and Winston Each and began serving some wonderful Auburn fans as well. Many of you will remember the gymnastics team's friend Lewis Each.....Lewis passed away two years ago and this evening was something I wanted to do in his memory. I wore a Bama Gymnastic warm-up and even managed a few cartwheels during the Celebrity Waiter introductions. I had the opportunity to meet several wonderful Cystic Fibrosis patients and new friendships were quickly made. I can honestly say this evening did more for me than it did for anyone else. It reminded me that we can all do our best to make a difference.....I dare say Russell Moore and I were the most comical of all the groups and between the two of us we raised more than $800.00 dollars in a few short hours. I left the event feeling revived ,thankful for the opportunity to participate and maybe just a bit sore after not turning a cartwheel in over 20 years! This is what the true spirit of our Alabama gymnastics program is all about!
