On Sunday October 15th I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the 10th anniversary of the NCAA Woman of the Year Banquet in Indianapolis. Lexa Evans, a senior on the 2000 SEC Championship squad was honored as the State of Alabama's recipient. Lexa becomes the fifth Alabama gymnast in the last ten years to receive this prestigious honor. She was also one of three gymnasts for the 2000 banquet to honored, quite an accomplishment when you think of the level of competition at the NCAA's this year! The NCAA Woman of the Year award stands for excellence in the classroom, NCAA competition and the commitment to community service........to me, it represents the ideals that Alabama Gymnastics are all about! It was an honor to join President Sorenson, Bobbi and Mike Evans, our academic advisor Cathy Elliott, and other administrators for a wonderful evening and tribute to Lexa Evans!
