Happy New Year! - 1/7/2002
Happy New Year to all our Bama Gymnastics fans...it seems as if we have been waiting for the start of the 2002
season forever, and now it is here!!! Our ladies returned from their holiday vacation on December 27th in time for a
"tune-up" practice before the kick-off of the Independence Bowl. We came in the gym, stretched, and did just enough to
begin to get our "timing" back on track. Our plan is to train December 27th, 28th, 30th, and 31st, January 2nd and
3rd, with a full intra squad on Saturday, January 5th. Hopefully, by then we will be back to pre-holiday form and
ready to place the final touches on our preparations for the Super Six Challenge in Gainesville. It really is nice to
have the extra week of preparation this year! I hope you and your family enjoy this most special holiday season
together. The events of September 11th certainly helped all of us look at our lives and the world surrounding us in a
most different perspective. As we enter the New Year my hopes for 2002 include peace and happiness, as well as a
renewed commitment to preparing these ladies I coach for their lives outside the athletic arena once their gymnastics
careers are over. This is truly the single most important thing I do....the sport of gymnastics is just a vehicle
through which I work. Here's to health, happiness, and success in 2002....please bring a few friends to the meets this
year, and help us continue to turn people on to Alabama Gymnastics and "The Big Show!"
