Courtney's Chalktalk

I don't think there's a more appropriate way to begin this week's Chalk Talk than with a big ROLL TIDE!!! What a week we've enjoyed down here in Tuscaloosa! The Bama vs. Tennessee game was quite possibly the most exciting game I have ever seen in my life. Thanks to Kassi, who arrived at the stadium before 9 a.m., we were able to enjoy front row seats right on the 30 yard line! So, we were pretty much right up there in all the action...and there sure was a lot of it in Bryant Denny Stadium this Saturday!

I don't think anything tops Gameday here at Bama, but when you combine a football team of Tennessee's caliber in addition to the intense rivalry, and over 100,000 fans here on campus, you've got yourself one heck of a football weekend). I know watching the game got all of us fired up for season. It's so hard to believe it's just right around the corner!

First stop on our journey is our annual Ghosts and Goblins intrasquad. Now just five days away, the intensity has picked up and excitement is building. Our teams have been decided and we've worked out in our groups over the past several days. Our girls thrive on competition so everyone is incredibly eager to get out in front of a crowd for the first time this year. So those of you in the Tuscaloosa area, we would love to have you come out to the Coliseum and join us Sunday at 1:30 p.m. for the first look at this 2008 Bama team! Trust me; you won't want to miss out

This past Friday, our team went out to Eutaw, Alabama for an afternoon of fun out on a high ropes course. We were split into three teams with one facilitator appointed to each group. There were about 8 different sections of the course and we had to strategize differently for each obstacle we faced.

You would think that for gymnasts, a ropes course wouldn't be all that difficult, after all, we flip around on a four inch beam and swing circles around a wooden bar. However, when you're nearly 60 feet off of the ground trying to balance on a wire less than 1/4 inch wide, and trying to fit seven people onto a 12 x 12 inch swaying platform in the sky, that gymnastics ability is completely irrelevant. We were all forced out of our comfort zone and really had to rely on each other to work together as a team in order to succeed and accomplish each task.

We had such a blast and enjoyed some very comical falls as well. Even Bryan and David were out there with us, showing off their photography skills! Needless to say, there were a lot of laughs and memories made to last a lifetime!

Well I guess that wraps up the highlights from this past week. Next week I'll give a report on Ghosts and Goblins so ya'll have a lot to look forward to!

ROLL TIDE ROLL!
