HAPPY 2008!!
I hope ya'll had a fabulous Christmas and are excited for the new year that is upon us! I can't believe it's finally here!! We all returned to campus this past Wednesday and were already hitting the gym the following day. Practices went extremely well, and it was obvious that all the girls really pushed themselves at their home gyms while away for the break. So, I'm quite pleased to say that we are exactly where we want to be and so ready for the season to get under way!
This upcoming week will be all about intrasquads and simulating the competition environment. Our depth on each event is so incredibly strong and it's a daily competition that keeps everyone striving to do better. There is nothing like competing in front of our faithful and supportive Alabama fans, and the pride that comes from representing our University and its traditions and legacy is an opportunity everybody wants to have. And that opportunity will come in just 9 days against our northern opponent, the University of Illiniois. Trust me, you won't want to miss it!
Since we've been back in Tuscaloosa we have all enjoyed the chance to relax and get organized for the season, semester, and the year. It's basically just our team on campus so it's just been a great past week of team bonding and hanging out. We have been keeping the movie theater in business and definitely done our share of damage at the mall! Ha ha.
For New Year's Eve we all went over to Kaitlin and Ashley O's house and just hung out, watched the Ball drop in Times Square, and got some good laughs watching Ashley and Ricki play tennis on the Wii. If you don't know what a Wii is, it's this Nintendo game that is motion sensored and you play games such as tennis, bowling, and even boxing. You hold the controller in your hand and actually do the actions that would be done in that sport. So Ashley and Ricki were playing each other and would actually have to serve the ball and hit it back and forth to each other, which was quite comical. Gymnastics is definitely their sport:) But nonetheless, it was very entertaining, not to mention a good workout, as hard as that is to believe!!
Well I guess that's all I have for this week. I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year and watches a lot of football:) GO SEC!!!!
