Ready to Be Home!

We're back from another successful away meet, managing to nearly equal our team score despite having ten of our top routines missing from the lineups. So that is a pretty impressive feat. This weekend was really about surviving and overcoming physical challenges because basically overnight several girls got sick and another handful of injuries flared up pretty significantly. A week that began smoothly and full of confidence had suddenly taken a 180 degree turn and we were forced to put several routines out there for the first time. But nobody panicked and for the most part, everyone rose to the pressure and did their job. Had we found ourselves in this situation last year, it probably wouldn't have turned out as well because we definitely lacked the depth we have this year.

There were numerous high points from our trip to Lexington...

  1. Welcome back Terin!! What a bar routine by this veteran!! And just to make the message completely clear that she was back, Terin nailed her dismount, not a single finger or toe out of place:)
  2. The amazing vault done by Miss Lebegern...don't be fooled by her petiteness. She can unleash some major power!
  3. Kaitlin opening with an extremely difficult front layout to immediate front double full. This routine is going to score BIG when she puts it all together.
  4. Ashley O back in the beam lineup and showing us why she is the beam queen:) Even without her signature double front (which will be added soon) her rock solid routine was very impressive and just a reliable routine we always know we can count on.
  5. Morgan anchored the beam lineup in her first beam performance (all others had been exhibition so there was less pressure). Her back handspring layout layout is one of the prettiest skills I have ever seen and the amplitude she achieves is amazing. So major congratulations in capturing the all around win in her first four event competition this season!

There were lots of other positives and exciting performances but I'll save my full meet recap for the Georgia meet! Anyways, last weekend was definitely a learning experience for every single one of us out there on the floor and this week we are doing everything possible to go into this weekend with all our troops ready to go. This is definitely one of our biggest weeks of the season because Alabama Georgia is like THE rivalry in college gymnastics. Everyone is so incredibly pumped and excited to have the opportunity to compete against such an incredible powerhouse full of talented gymnasts. It really is unbelievable how competitive the SEC is and we're very fortunate to get to compete amongst the best teams in the country week in and week out. We're hoping to unveil a few new skills this weekend, as well as get a couple new routines out there. All I know is that is going to be one heck of a meet and ya'll definitely don't want to miss this one! It's going to be a packed house so be sure to come early...there will even be prizes given away before the meet starts! Be sure to wear your crimson! See ya Friday night for the Big Show!!!
