Well, we just enjoyed our mid season off weekend and are now preparing for eight competitions in a seven week span. It sounds rather daunting, doesn't it?? Ha ha. It definitely won't be a walk in the park but our team is certainly up for the challenge!

College gymnastics sure isn't about achieving success overnight. Instead it is a test of endurance and stamina, it's about being the best at the end of the long journey. In order to prepare for the remainder of the season and the hectic schedule just ahead, the coaches backed off a little this week so that everyone could rest their legs while still improve in other areas. The major focus was placed on handstands on bars and endurance training on floor. Conditioning also picked up this week and I think the girls were sore almost every day thanks to our strength coach, Travis.

This week, it's back to hard landings and really emphasizing sticking. That is probably one of the biggest areas we need work which is exciting because it's very fixable and easy to work on. These little quarter and half tenth deductions are typically what determine the results of a meet and we're determined to use them to our advantage.

We take on LSU this Friday so we're excited to get on the road again after being at home the past two meets. We've been preparing our freshmen and sophomore classes for their fans. They get an extremely energetic crowd over there and it's so fun to compete in front of them because they get you so fired up!! Hopefully this week and next we'll get the chance to unveil some of the remaining new skills that the girls are working on. That way we'll have more than an entire month to fine tune all the routines prior to SECs.

Wow. I can't believe I'm already talking about SECs...it's just amazing how fast the time goes!
