Q: How do you feel about competing in your hometown, Birmingham, this week?
A: "I am very excited because it means that a lot of my friends and family who sometimes can't make it to Tuscaloosa can come. Plus, I think it is really good because it will make people want to come to Tuscaloosa and watch more meets."
Q: What vault(s) do you perform and are we likely to see any new ones this season?
A: "I am only performing one vault this season, it is called a Phelps and has a 10.0 start value. This is an upgrade from last year when the vault I performed had a 9.9 start value, so I won't be changing my vault this season."
Q: As a vaulter, how do you feel about the new on vault rule?
A: "At first I was a little nervous about it, in the past we have always had a second try on vault. But now I think it makes gymnasts try harder on their first vault. Really, it's only fair since you don't get a second chance on any of the other apparatus."
Q: So far you've been a consistent vaulter for the Tide, what event do you think we are likely to see you in next?
A: "I working on my routines for all the other events, but I really don't know for sure. It will depend on where the coaches need me."
Q: What meet are you looking forward to most this season?
A: "The Georgia meet in Tuscaloosa. It's just more exciting because there are more people and there is such a great feel to it."
Q: You competed in diving when you were in high school, do you think this has contributed any to your gymnastics skills?
A: "It has helped a little by making me more aware of where my body is in the air."
Q: How do you think the loss of senior Katie Hornecker is going to affect the team?
A: "It's going to be hard because Katie was such a big part of the team, but everyone knows their job and that they have to be ready to step up when they are needed."
