Natalie Barrington

Q: Even though it is always exciting to receive a 10, do you think it was even more so because you were competing against Georgia?

A: "Yes, I think it was really exciting from the crowd aspect of it. We were competing against a good team and it helped them get into the meet and get excited."

Q: Alabama is a long way from Canada, what made you want to come to the University of Alabama?

A: "I came here because I really liked the campus and the girls on the team. The girls on the team were what really made up my mind though, I knew they were people I could spend four years with and do gymnastics with."

Q: Having been here for few years now, tell us what some of your favorite things about Alabama are.

A: "I like grits. They're really good with butter and salt. I like the weather too. It's not cold all the time. Also I like the fact that everything is more slow-paced than in the city where I'm from."

Q: Last week we only saw you compete on the uneven bars, do you think we will see you compete in any other events this week?

A: "I've been in and out of the floor line-up depending on our competition so you might see me there. I will probably do an exhibition on beam this week and will be ready to compete on the beam soon. I did an exhibition on beam against Auburn in Birmingham, but I have changed my routine so that it has only one handspring layout instead of two."

Q: What role do you think the fans played in the win against Georgia?

A: "I think it definitely helped us perform better because when the fans get more excited we get more excited. And I think that when the crowd cheers to show they enjoyed the routine then that means the judges enjoyed it too."

Q: Do you think it will be difficult to win in Athens (versus Georgia) next week since it will be Georgia's home crowd?

A: "I think the meet will come down to the last event and it helps to have the home crowd advantage, but I think we'll still do well."
