There are many people who do not understand that winning or losing a competition does not matter in gymnastics. A lot of my classmates cannot believe that we are currently the top ranked team after losing to Penn State this past weekend. We had two awesome meets this past weekend, and we strive to continue our successes this Friday against Kentucky. Today was our day off. As a team, we are going to read Dr. Suess' Oh The Places You Will Go. It was taped by a telecommunication and film major, and will be viewed by elementary school students in Birmingham. I have always enjoyed Dr. Suess, but surprisingly, I did not receive this book upon graduating from high school (like 90% of the people who own it have.) I found one stanza that pertains to our team this season:

"And when things start to happen,
Don't worry, don't stew.
Just go right along.
You'll start happening too."

There have been many occasions this season that as a team, we could have given into our fears that we were top-heavy in inexperience. We could have lost our determination once we lost to Penn State by .20. Yet we did not worry or stew. Instead, we resolved to "happen too." We are far from accomplishing our mission, but each day that we improve in some way is a step closer to achieving our goals. We look forward to competing against Kentucky on Disco Night. Rest assured, everyone will be catching "Saturday Night Fever" a day early.

Roll Tide Roll!
