Ashley Miles Honored at Halftime of Alabama-Ole Miss Game

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Four-time NCAA Champion and 2006 National Gymnast of the year Ashley Miles one of the most decorated student-athletes in University of Alabama history was honored at halftime of today's Alabama-Ole Miss football game.
Miles, who won her third NCAA vault crown last April in Corvallis, Ore., was presented with her championship ring by athletics director Mal Moore and head coach Sarah Patterson.
For her outstanding senior season, which included an NCAA title, an unprecedented fourth SEC floor exercise titles and her fourth NCAA Regional vault and floor exercise titles Miles was voted the Honda Award winner for 2006, given annually to the national gymnast of the year. Rick Schostek, Senior Vice President of Honda Manufacturing in Alabama, was on hand to present the Crimson Tide's sixth Honda Award.
Miles was the second gymnast in NCAA history and the first in 20 years to win three vault titles in a career. Her overall total of four national titles ranks her third in NCAA history. She won 20 postseason championships at Alabama including four NCAA, six Southeastern Conference and 10 NCAA regional titles. She also earned back-to-back Academic All-SEC honors and was named to the University's elite women's honorary XXXI.
