TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The No. 3 ranked Alabama gymnastics team found out who will join them in Tuscaloosa next week for the NCAA Central Region Championships and a chance to earn a spot at the NCAA Championships.

The Crimson Tide will welcome No. 10 Oklahoma, No. 15 Iowa State, No. 19 Michigan State, No. 21 Ohio State and No. 26 Kentucky to Tuscaloosa for the April 14 Central Regional Championships starting at 6 p.m.

"We're excited to be hosting this championship event and now we look forward to doing our job and advancing on to the NCAA Championships," Alabama head coach Sarah Patterson said. "Everything we do from this point on will be geared toward qualifying for our 25th consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships. I think that would be a tremendous accomplishment and honor."

Tickets for the NCAA Central Region Championship are available at the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262) or online at www.rolltide.com.

Six teams, five all-around competitors (who are not on a qualifying team) and one individual event specialist per event were named to each of the six regions. The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships in Salt Lake City, Utah, April 26-28, hosted by the University of Utah.

Alabama is vying for its 25th consecutive NCAA Championship bid. Only Utah, which is going for 26 straight final site trips, has as many consecutive appearances.

In addition, the event winners at the regional championships will advance to the national championships (in that event only) if they are not part of a qualifying team or the all-around qualifiers.

The Crimson Tide also found out that it will start the Central Regional on the uneven bars before advancing to the balance beam. The Tide will then go to a bye before moving to the floor exercise and vault. Alabama will finish the night on a bye.
