Top Five Gymnastics Showdown Set for Friday in Coleman Coliseum

TUSCLOOSA, Ala. - After two weeks of stability at the top of the national gymnastics rankings, week three's shuffle finds newly-minted No. 1 Georgia traveling to Tuscaloosa this Friday to face No. 4 Alabama in a showdown of top-5 squads.
Tickets for the Alabama-Georgia meet are on sale through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262) or online at RollTide.com. The meet gets underway at 7:30 p.m. but fans are encouraged to arrive early to see enjoy all the action, including contests and giveaways that will start well before the introductions.
Georgia, the three-time defending NCAA Champions, used the highest score in the nation so far this season against LSU last weekend to vault over Florida. The Gators dropped to No. 3 behind the Dogs and Utah.
Alabama, tied for third with Utah the first two weeks of the season is No. 4 this week. Michigan rounds out the top-5. With LSU at No. 7 and Arkansas at No. 9, the Southeastern Conference has five schools in the top-10.
The Crimson Tide is third on the uneven bars, fourth on the floor exercise and balance beam and 10th on the vault.
Sophomore Morgan Dennis is the first of three Alabama gymnasts ranked in the all-around, checking in at No. 5 this week while freshman Kayla Hoffman is 12th and sophomore Kassi Price 14th.
Hoffman is ranked fifth and Dennis 20th on the vault. Dennis is also seventh on the balance beam while Price is second on the uneven bars. Hoffman is fourth on the floor exercise while Price is 14th. Junior Brittany Magee is 12th and sophomore Ricki Lebegern is 19th on the balance beam. Senior Terin Humphrey is 13th and Hoffman is 24th on the uneven bars.
