TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- During Friday's Alabama-Arkansas gymnastics meet, the Crimson Tide's volunteer coach, Dana Dobransky Duckworth was presented with the 2008 "Sarah Patterson Distinguished Alumni Award" given annually by the Medalist Club, the Crimson Tide's booster organization, to a member of the Alabama gymnastics family that has gone on to lead a life of distinction after graduation.

Duckworth was presented with the award by Sarah Patterson, Medalist Club President Jim Davis and Mark Sullivan, president of The Bank of Tuscaloosa, the award's sponsor.

Duckworth was a two-time NCAA Champion on the balance beam, eight-time All-American, three-year Scholastics All-American and an SEC and NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship winner during her 1990-93 Crimson Tide career.

She has seen both sides of a national team championship, having been a part of the Tide's 1991 NCAA title as a sophomore and the 2002 NCAA Championship as the Tide's volunteer coach. As a choreographer, she has created four floor exercise routines that won NCAA Championships including Ashley Miles in 2004 and Morgan Dennis last season.

In her six and half years with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Duckworth has already become a multiple Vice President Cabinet winner denoting the top representative in the Gulf Coast Region and earned the Circle of Excellence award.

Past winners of the award are Barabara Mack Harding (2005), Patti Rice Eggers (2006) and Marie Robbins (2007).
