Bama really put it to a fine Georgia team this past weekend, sweeping all three games of the series. Those three games included a couple of dramatic comebacks - and one real 'laugher'. Rice was named athlete of the week after a real 'hit and RBI parade'. Not only was the hitting in the forefront, the pitching also held up very well during Bama's SEC opener. Not to be overlooked, the fielding included some really 'gymnastic' plays by several ballplayers. In fact, it appeared to this observer that...huh? What's that? What about the Bama/UGA gym meet? You say Bama lost 197.625-197.250? That's flatly impossible. Bama didn't play the GymDogs last weekend; in fact they haven't met as yet this year, at all. I don't know what you're talking about.
What? You say Jeana Rice had a fine weekend, too? She had a perfect 10.0 on the vault and I missed it? I can't believe that! If that's true - and I'm not admitting that it is - she was long overdue to receive a 10.0 on the vault, I can tell you that. Whattaya mean you saw me at the meet, I wasn't there, I tell you, there wasn't any meet! I did notice that Jeana continued her reign this week as the nation's best female college gymnast. Come on now, Ashley Miles got another 10.0 from one judge and an incorrectly lower score from the other judge for her floor routine? Are you sure you're not thinking about the Kentucky meet? Oh, she got a 10.0 on vault from just one judge, too. You suddenly remembered that, eh, after I mentioned the Kentucky meet? Very suspicious...
Now, come on! No way! Now you claim Bama lost this, this figment of your imagination, this 'gym meet' against Georgia because of a bunch of small bobbles on balance beam? The GymTide? After being virtually flawless on beam for almost the entire year? Sure, pal, as if! Now you're getting completely beyond the realm of possibility. I know how to settle this, I'll just look up the PBA's excellent post-meet commentary. If anyone can solve this argument, it will be...
I totally don't believe it! You've gotten them involved with this fantasy, too! Big Al Surrenders to UGA VI Despite Shining Performances Early On...hmmm, is it possible? Am I 'blocking' this UGA'ly memory? I wonder...
As far as I know, the GymTide continues apace with preparations for a trip to the 'Plains' on Friday to meet the Auburn GymTigers. Word on the street is that the Auburn coaches are planning to shave their heads* if Auburn is able to beat Bama. I wonder if that includes Mrs. Thompson? Maybe if they lose, they could all go with a really stylish 'flat-top' haircut - that seems to be an effective look! Hopefully, another Bama victory on the 'Plains' will help you to overcome this nightmare illusion about the Georgia GymDogs sweeping this year's regular season series against our beloved GymTide. Salsa, where are my smelling salts?
Roll Tide!!!
