Six of the nation's top ten women's gymnastics teams will be in action this Saturday January 8th in Athens Georgia.
Who's ready to compete, who's back and who's hurt?
Alabama
The Tide returns All-Americans Lexa Evans, Andree Pickens, Lissy Smith and Dara Stewart.
Back from injuries: Raegan Tomasek
Look for Pickens to go all-around, along with Robin Hawkins and possibly freshman Kristen Sterner.
Vault: Stewart, Hawkins, freshman Sara Scarborough, Sterner, Katie Hornecker and Pickens.
Bars: Hawkins, Stewart, Whitney Morgan, Sterner/Hornecker, Pickens and Natalie Barrington
Beam: Stewart, Martinez, Sterner/Hawkins, Pickens, Tomasek and Lissy Smith.
Floor: Smith, Martinez, Tomasek/Evans, Pickens, Sterner and Hawkins.
Georgia
Back-to -back national championships breed a confident dawg.
Returning All-Americans: Suzanne Sears, Kathleen Shrieves, Kristi Lichey, Amanda Curry,
Back from injuries: Kathleen Shrieves and Danielle Maurone.
Look for Kristi Lichey to lead Georgia this year in the all-around with possibly a healthy Shrieves and Talya Vexler along with freshmen Monica Flammer and Breanne Rutherford.
Vault: Lichey, Brooke Anderson, Shrieves, freshman Monica Flammer/Rutherford, Sears and Curry. If healthy, they are unbeatable on this apparatus.
Bars: Lichey, Shrieves, Anderson, Curry, Vexler and Eileen Diaz.
Beam: Vexler, Lichey, Shrieves, Curry, Flammer, and Rutherford.
Floor: Sears, Lichey, Rutherford, Vexler, Anderson, and Amanda Curry.
Florida
The Gators will look to their youth to get them back to the top of the gymnastics world with only one returning All-American, senior Chrissy Van Fleet.
Depth will be a problem for this team with only ten gymnasts on roster.
Van Fleet will be helped in the all-around this year by freshmen Jennifer Carow and Lindsey Miner.
Vault: Van Fleet, Carow, freshman Jacqui Williams, Teal Chiabotti, Hilary Thompson and Miner.
Bars: Van Fleet, Gabby Fuchs, Carow, freshman Kelly Hesbeens, Krissy Dreger and Miner.
Beam: Van Fleet, Carow, Miner, Chiabotti, Maryann Esposito/Fuchs and Thompson.
Floor: Van Fleet, Carow, Chiabotti, Miner, Thompson, and Fuchs.
Michigan
The Wolverines are hungry this year after being runner-ups to the gymdogs. With All-American Sarah Cain leading the charge, a healthy Michigan could make a run for the title.
Returning from injuries: Amy Kuczera, Kate Nellans, Brianne Fuller, and Melissa Peterson.
Returning All-Americans: Sarah Cain, Karina Senior, Bridget Knaeble and Shannon MacKenzie.
Competing in all-around with Cain will be freshman Janessa Grieco and a healthy Bridgette Knaeble.
Vault: Grieco, Cain, Jodie Rosenberg, Christine Michaud, Sarah-Elizabeth Langford, and Knaeble.
Bars: Cain, Senior, Knaeble, Kate Nellans, Langford/Erin McWatt, Grieco/Kuczera/ freshman Cami Singer.
Beam: Knaeble, Cain, Senior, Grieco, McWatt, Michaud/Kuczera.
Floor: Cain, Senior, Rosenberg, Grieco, Michaud, Melissa Peterson/Kuczera/ Singer.
Nebraska
The obvious leader of the Cornhuskers is senior All-American Heather Brink. Lack of depth may hamper them early on in the season. Brink along with freshman A.J. Lamb will see all-around action with the possible addition of Amy Ringo and freshman Jennifer French.
Back from injuries: Nicole Wilkinson is still hampered with a wrist injury, but if healthy, will go all-around also.
Vault: Brink, Lamb, French, Laura Goss, Ringo and Arica Lamb.
Bars: Brink, French, A.J. Lamb, Jessica Wertz, Julie Houk, and Wilkinson.
Beam: Brink, Wilkinson, Goss, French, Ringo and A.J. Lamb.
Floor: Brink, Wertz, Houk, French, Ringo/Wilkinson and A.J. Lamb.
UCLA
Senior power will lead the Bruins into the 21st century, and there are few better than All-Americans Heidi Moneymaker and Lena Degteva. Junior All-American Mohini Bhardwaj will help anchor a talented team. These three will go all-around for UCLA, with the possible addition of freshman Onnie Willis.
Returning from injuries: Amy Young.
