The Alabama Gymnastics Medalist Club, the official support organization of the Alabama gymnastics team, seeks TWO part-time employees to work on-campus to assist the club in various activities.
One employee will work with the club's web site: www.gymtide.com to gather information, conduct interviews and other activities as directed by the site's webmaster.
One employee will work with the club's marketing side to assist in promoting the club, the gymnastics meets and other activities as directed by the gymnastics office.
These employees will receive $1,000 each per semester, renewable upon evaluation at the end of each semester.
Office hours are required and will be established by the supervisors with the successful applicants.
Minimum Skills Required: Both employees are expected to possess good credentials, technology, writing and communication skills. In taking on projects, they shall pay close attention to detail while keeping the clubıs goals in focus at all times. Must be computer literate and proficient in the following or equivalent applications: Windows, Word, using the Internet, PageMaker or QuarkXPress. All written material prepared by the employees will meet minimum writing standards.
Working Characteristics: Must be a self starter, creative, inventive, a good communicator, dedicated to the job and require little supervision. Must produce sufficient, quality work product and present work products to the Board of Directors.
Chain of Command: The employees shall work under the direct guidance of two members of the Board of Directors. They check in regularly with their supervisor, and inform the supervisor of any deadline conflicts. All written contact with the media, the general public and the membership of the club shall be approved prior to distribution by a member of the board.
Specific Duties: The employees shall each assist the club in different areas, some of them are:
- Web site:
- Monitor content of the web site on a regular basis.
- Prepare at editorial and graphic content for the web site, under proper direction.
- Perform regular, general maintenance on the web site as needed, including updating archives.
- Work with the membership chairperson, assisting in the maintenance of the membership database.
- Work under the direction of the membership chairperson in circulating the appropriate membership forms internally, and fulfilling membership benefits packages, such as labelling and shipping T-shirts, posters and parking passes.
- Staff the membership table prior to each home meet, under direction of the membership chairperson.
- Attend all special events and receptions of the club to work as needed in crowd control, member sign-in and flow control.
- Marketing:
- Work under the direction of the newsletter editor to assist in the production of the publication. - - Contribute at least one piece of editorial content per issue of the newsletter.
- Assist as needed in the production and dissemination of reminders and invitations to club functions.
- Work under the direction of the membership chairperson in circulating the appropriate membership forms internally, and fulfilling membership benefits packages, such as labelling and shipping T-shirts, posters and parking passes.
- Staff the membership table prior to each home meet, under direction of the membership chairperson.
- Generate regular press releases to appropriate media outlets
- Prepare general correspondence to the membership of the club.
- Attend all special events and receptions of the club to work as needed in crowd control, member sign-in and flow control.
